MT | Still in design phase. What type nozzles would be best for spraying weeds( don't really want a broadcast setup with 2 nozzles that they sell on prefab sprayers). Also pump size, should I just go as big as possible or what size is adequate for a 6 to 12 foot setup. Want to drive at decent speed not creep, have about 8 acres or lawn. Any suggestions or things not to do would be appreciated. Thanks.

I use flat fans under a hooded sprayer I built......it works great.

thumb of michigan | I made one with the same bodies that the field sprayer has so I could experiment. 12gallon flat fans work well for me. The 12v pump that the small fimco tanks that TSC sells has worked well too, I just regulate the bypass line to adjust pressure.

Macon, IL | I have a setup I like-made to quick attach booms for 4 wheeler. One is 12.5ft-which (6 nozzle-5 row) I use for field touch ups-and for home yard and one other yard. Nozzles line up between rows-so nice for spraying beans-until too tall for 4 wheeler. Parents and landlords have too many trees so I use the 6ft fimco boom with 18 inch breakaways. Can load it in pickup with out detaching boom. 12.5 ft boom is just made out of heavy PVC. Remove it and slide it in pickup. Put quick attaches on hoses so it takes me 2 mins to switch booms. I bought the Fimco 25 gallon tank, and put on a 3.5 gpm pump. The littel 2 gpm was weak for big boom-5 gallon per minute I think I would have to go too fast with small boom to keep rate. I like to use about 10-12gpa on everything. I can spray a 2 acre lawn at a resonable speed and come out within a gallon or so every time. I use regular nozzle bodies and flat fan on both booms like regular sprayer so can just go to shed and grab parts if anything breaks. Waxahachie, TX | I built one simialar to the above poster.. mine was only 10ft.. but used 6 nozzles, so I could move it closer to the ground.. (using it to spray mowed grass.) Folding wings... running it on a Zero Turn machine.. I just used 1in square tubing with some hinges.. For nozzles, I'm currently using the standard flat fan yellow nozzles. (.15 gpm at 40 psi.) The fittings and nozzles were just from TSC.. I welded a washer on the bottom of the square tubing.. ( so it sticks out the back of the bar.) For supply I'm just using my pump and tank from my hand wond type sprayer.. its a Delvan pump, 2GPM and 60 psi max. I added a pressure regulator so I could adjust the pressure down, and keep the pressure constant. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v495/JDGnut/Tractor%20Parts/SP3.j... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v495/JDGnut/Tractor%20Parts/SP2.j... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v495/JDGnut/Tractor%20Parts/SP1.j...
