Subject: Morning glory -toxic to cows?



North Carolina
Landlord wants some corn stalk bales made off of his place. This field has some morning glorys....bad enough that it hendered me shelling it. Is it toxic to cows? If not...will cows eat it.

Morning glory="field bindweed"

Cattle absolutely LOVE it.  If the weed has pods (seed) on it, though, the cattle will spread it through their manure....

This matters to some folks, but matter none to others.

Never had a problem in pasture with it. After a few yrs it "just " Quits when the cows keep it ate off. "Dammed stuff"

Around these parts, field bindweed is different from wild morningglory. About the same problems in corn tho. but, we have a lot more bindweed and its harder to get rid of
