Subject: Problem with Bourgault Aircart Monitor

Australia

I was trying to help a mate setup a Bourgault Deluxe Air seeder monitor (491) on his 5295 cart. Monitor won't find any of the sensors.  Unplugged all sensors except ground speed as directed in the manual, then turned on the monitor. Selected Discover Sensors from the menu as instructed. It should then discover the speed sensor, beep twice and then wait for the next sensor to be plugged in, but just sits waiting for  the speed sensor to be plugged in, even though it is. There's a red light flashing slowly on the speed sensor, so it's got power, but that's it.

Bourgault in Australia don't really seem to care too much, as he's rung 4 or 5 times and they say someone will ring back, but of course nobody does. Any idea's what to try next? It's a 2003 model and was 'working'  with the previous owner. I've checked the wiring harness and can't find any faults, but told him to take the plugs apart and check terminals, just to be sure. I assume as they call them 'smart' sensors, they're using a canbus system, as there's only 3 wires going to all the sensors.

Check the back of the monitor. Make sure wires are hooked to the correct ports.

Maybe check the harness connectors again. If someone treated them with dielectric grease or something similiar the female part can expand as the grease is pushed in when reconecting and lose contact.

Yep, fixed! He took the plugs apart as suggested and found the green signal wire had pulled out of the terminal, just annoying that the other 2 were ok, making the light on the sensor work.
