Think I am going to put some underfloor radiant in "This old House". Start with a room or two and work up. Going to get a wood boiler, put on a sidearm heat exchanger for the hot water, and a loop in a couple or 3 rooms. I now wish I didn't have sprayfoam on the bathroom floor. So, I will need a pump controller, pump, thermostat, mixing valve, manifold with flow contollers for more than one circuit. What else? This will be a non pressurized system, so, shouldn't need an expansion tank, correct?

Thank you very much, that's exactly what I needed. So, hot water is coming in on the right, return water going out on the left. The balance valve is trickling together cooler return water, and boiler water, to get the heat you want in the coils.

Eastern Ont | This one is a little more straight forward The garage has 3 loops in it Randy you are right I edited the picture to put the in and return lines in the right place Edited by ayrporte 2/12/2012 14:28 (Garage Manifold.jpg) (Manifold.jpg) Attachments ---------------- Garage Manifold.jpg (48KB - 147 downloads) Manifold.jpg (58KB - 181 downloads)

Perry, MO | You are welcome to come look at ours, we did most of it on our own and we are not very far from you. Just shoot me a e-mail.

Manitoba, Canada | That's close to the way I did it also. The only thing I would recomend is when looking at ayrporte's first picture I would flip the "return to boiler" and "from boiler" section over. Maybe even lenthen the top end so the "return to boiler" pipe is above the "return" line. The reason I say that is if any air gets in the floor (also at initial startup) any air that is in the floor will go up into the "return to boiler" pipe and not be sucked back into the floor pipes again. BTDT. I found out it's well worth the effort to try to plumb it so any air automatically goes back to the stove instead of having to bleed it off. JMO.

I am working on same kind of project. If I have it straight, you have one main pump at the boiler and then each zone has a circulating pump, right? And does the main pump run all the time?

Eastern Ont | WOW How many zones? How large a building? How large is the boiler,s?

Manitoba, Canada | That's what I did. The main pump from boiler runs all the time. Each zone pump runs only when needed. I just used line voltage (120 volt) thermostats to turn the zone pumps on and off based on air temp. Maybe not the best but cheap and effective.

Very nice. Impressive setup!.

NW IL | Could be used as a 4 zone setup but we just heat the entire building the same. 120x80 Building 310,000 BTU Weil Mclain Boiler
