Anyone have any experience with these? Im thinking of trading my old vermeer 605XL for one of these. I like the thought of these new balers having their own hydraulics and the fact that they eject the bale automatically too. Basically just a drive and stop baler the way I see it.

I looked at them and they look very impressive to me. Only 3 or 4 drive chains total on the machine. They are only Massey now. Went with another NH. Nothing against the Massey just found the right deal.

I have a 2000 model year Hesston 856A baler which was the first generation of the "modern" Hesston balers. It has something like 10 drive chains on it, so they must have done something different on the newer balers.

When new my baler had a few bugs to work out with that the dealer bent over backwards to correct. It was the first 856A my dealer had sold. Been a good outfit since. I do like the autocycle feature. Saves a lot on my clutch leg.

I went from a 5500 to a 856A so it was like going from a Model T to the starship Enterprise LOL!

I have a 856 A  too, I think they are great baler, I will take the couple exta chains any day....  Drove a new JD for a day last summer , not impressed, gets old yanking on the hy lever every bale. my only agco complaint are the pickup teeth,  I put a few JD square teeth in for cornstocks, now I need to figure out how to put two little bends in the JD teeth with out taking the temper out....the net wrap sys is bullet proof and belts will always be belts.
My first baler was a 560a so  that was a learning curve for wiring, magnets, and elec/hyd.......

You can get them as Challenger also. We have sold several and they are good balers. Personally I wouldn't want all the extra stuff on those balers, just more to go wrong when they get older but if you want a fully automatic baler Agco is the way to go.

We have 2 -956A's. I have had very little trouble with them. Chains every once in awhile. Bought one new and the other used a couple of years ago. I like the autocycle program. Don't know why anyone would run it in manual mode. Drive, stop, push button and then drive. These replaced a 5580 and an 5585 Hesston. Alot nicer to run these.

I have a 956A hesston and would not trade it for any other brand, I ran a friends Vermeer super M and I would not sell mine if he gave me his Vermeer.

I was a mechanic for an agco dealer for eight years. I had an 856a, but now I have a John Deere 468. Would highly suggest the Deere over the Massey, it is a much more simple machine. If the hydraulic system on the Massey gives you problems, it can be very expensive and tedious to fix. The Deere also seems to feed hay much better.
