Friends,
I am looking for websites that have old aerial photos
of farmland, or just aerial photos of the countryside.

By old I mean 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s.

There is a site for Iowa that has 1930s photos, as well as 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and then a lot taken in the last 20 years.
Missouri is the state I am most interested in. However if any state has such a web site I would like to know about it.

One of my Grandfathers had a sawmill and logging business in Shannon County Mo in the 1920s. Really would like to see what it looked like then, as far as percent of the land covered with trees.
The timber land that he owned is all pasture now.

The Iowa site:

Below are links to my farm in Dallas County Iowa.
For the 30s, 50s and 60s.
The 30s are about 1937 or 38.

I don't really know when the 50s pic were taken.
THe 60s were shot early, like 1961.
Can't get the 70s one to work.
And the 80s pics are not very good.
The attached pic is a Google taken June 5 of 2011.

This has old photos of Minnesota, 1938 for my area. Typical govt web site, it gives 2 or 3 errors you need to ignore/continue on, takes forever, uses up too much memory, and then - if your computer is capible enough, it works......

Before my day, the farm was 50% grassland - pretty wet, the horses had to eat in winer too.... The Fort Road running past the place used to come in closer to the hose by a bit, through The Cut which is now a ripple in the field. Fields ran in different directions than thy do now, willy nilly through the wet areas. The ditch was a shallow meandering creek that dad would drive through to cross.

Heard those stories for all my life. But, to now see it, very cool. Wish dad were still around, to point at things and ask.

The ancient old cottonwood tree on the line is there - a little sappling.

our son works for a surveyor. He brought some pictures of our place and the countryside from 1930's.  Nice photo's could pick out different buildings etc. Was really surprised how little woods were there. I would guess that 75 percent of the woods around was farm land or pasture land at one time. Have to get my scanner fixed.
