Quincy, IL | We have a new to us kinze 3600 12r/30 to plant corn with next year. It has corn units only and no fertilizer so the front bar is "clean" and looks like a good spot to add a toolbox and/or a place to store a bag of seed or 2, parts, etc. We have always planted corn with a splitter and sometimes carried extra seed in one of the bean units. This was handy when finishing up a field, doing test plot, etc. (We'll pull the new planter with a JD4430 so cab space is limited.)
I'm thinking of something big enough for a bag or 2 of corn and a spot to keep an extra chain, sprockets, graphite, etc. So far the best I can come up with is a truck toolbox like a weatherguard for example. Should be water tight obviously.
I'd appreciate some input or pictures if anyone has done something like this.
Thanks! |

Liberty, MO | I'm kinda old fashioned, but a rock box on the front of my planting tractor will hold 4 or 5 bags of seed corn, isn't weather proof but does a good job for me, have used the same box on 2-85, 2-105, got to remodel it a little for 9150 DA. Even added a couple of extra lights on it. |

Carroll Iowa | Had the same problem as you on a 2600 for just tools.
Went looking under the bench in the shop and had about 3-4 old Dewalt drill cases unused. Took one and Drilled two little holes in the botton for the stubs for the Fert boxes mount to. Put it on the Left side and it holds just tools very nicley, and keeps things clean. Plus its easy to take off if you need to.

Cen IL | I also have a 12/23 3600 and for a storage box/toolbox I got a 10' long piece of 4.5" square white PVC plastic decorative fence post. I used a 3" hole saw and drilled out several holes on 18" centers and connected them in pairs with a sawsall. Then I made wood partition blocks for dividers and front and rear endcaps. I slide it into the 5 x 7 front tube on the left side and use a bunge cord to keep it from falling out. I made a aluminum endcap after the first winter when a mouse found out what a good nesting spot it made. I think the new Kinze's now come this way. Great for spare parts and small tools. Waterproof too ! |
