Northwest Illinois
I am looking at John Deere planters (7200 6-30) and run across Conservation planters and "plain jane" planters. Could someone tell me the difference between the two. Thanks

Conservation has a frame that is an inch or more bigger, and they have a cylinder on each wheel to raise the planter where the regular planter might just have one cylinder on the middle of the frame like a 7000. There are some other differences, I had a conservation 7200 that I bought new back in 1992, was a very good planter for me.

I have the 1760 conservation planter, the frame is heavier, it has air bags for down pressure, the guides are heavier and have a ram on each side. If you're going to no-till, it's a must.

Northeast Indiana (Auburn)
The 7200 Conservation planter will have a 7"X7" mainframe instead of a 5"X7" and the fertilizer bar is 3"X3". The marker arms will have a cylinder on each and the sliding part of the marker arm will be solid steel instead of tube steel. And each wheel will have a lift cylinder.
