Bartlett TX | I am about to order a new Deere 7 bottom switch plow. I have never seen the auto reset shanks and can't decide which ones to get. We use our switch plow to plow up terraces in the fall. The ground is usually hard and dry, and we often shear bolts on our old 965 plow. What are some opinions on the auto reset option? My dealer doesn't know anything about them and the Deere website doesn't show much. Thanks |

| You need to e-mail Badger or try to post to him and ask him about the JD switch plow. He posted earlier about them. I do know the 3-4 bottom ones they had problems with the newer ones, couldn't keep shear pins in. I heard through the grapevine local JD dealer won't sell one because of the problems with them. |

| Here's an Australian Deere brochure which has more pics than the US site. see page 6. It doesn't reset on the go like an auto-reset plow, you need to stop and raise the plow to let the bottom reset. Maybe someone who's used one can comment further.

| I order a new 8 bottom and got it with auto resets. I have a 965 shear bolt plow that can plum wear a guy out in hard or rocky ground. 995 shear bolt plows are a better design and do not shear as often, so I've heard. |

West Texas | Price the trip mechanism before you buy one. Also I know you can use shims to adjust the trip force or at least it was that way years ago. We have both, the auto trip might be better in your situation if it doesn't fail very often. |

Huntley Montana | I bought a new 995 8 bottom w shear bolts last summer.......... I think we're on the 4th bag of shear bolts.................... bags of 100.. Gotta doubble nut them or the nut will pull the threads out. Might take the grinder & make the latch go a little futher over center..... 1 thing about it ,,,, you get to strech offen..... Have seen all 8 go within 2 ft 2x. |
