What is the pro's and con's of the high track crawlers vs the low track or standard track. Which one last the longest, less costlier to repair, and has better resale?

Don't know all pros or cons.......just that high track gives machine better ground clerance and keeps
drive sprocket out of adrasive material for less drive sprocket wear which helps on replacement cost.

You did not ask about transmissions so hope it's o.k. to throw this into your thread. Run an older JD750B.
The hydrostatic drive with "turn in its tracks" capability is quick, pushes a load and never had hydrostat trouble.

It will be interesting what those that have used and maintained both high and standard track have to say.

The big advantage with high drives is that the DRIVE is up high where it's not exposed to getting pounded to death by rocks and stumps. You've just got one solit track frame with an idler to take the beating. As far as track life or sprocket life... I don't think it helps chain life. Changing segments on the sprocket is easier... doubt it's more life tho.
Ground clearance is the other big plus on the high drive... The biggest downside is that it probably makes the machine a good bunch heavier... or at least the smaller models that had high tracks were a good deal heavier. Not so great for light work. Not so manuverable, etc.

A lot of what we use a dozer for extra weight is a plus, we don't use them for tillage. I don't see how weight makes them less manuverable.

When you're dealing with a clutch/brake machine... weight does not help them. I was thnking more in terms of the mess they make tho... supposing you're trying to do finish work with it.
