I'm considering buying an Kuhn SR110/SR112 wheel rake this fall to rake cornstalks. Anyone have any experience on how good of job these rakes do? We'd also be using it next year to rake alfalfa cut with a NH 499 haybine. Thanks.

Kuhn rake is a really good one from what I understand. I have a Belco now, but I can definitely tell you don't buy a Frontier. Not enough clearance and too hard to adjust. If you have never used a wheel rake you will have alearnind curve to go thru.

I have a SR110 and have used it 2 years. It rakes about 800 acres per year. Absolutely no problems at all. 1st field we raked it wanted to throw the hay over the top of the back wheels. Took a little time to adjust the width but once we got it where we wanted, no more adjustment, just rake. It will make a 90 degree turn with no problem. Sharper turn than that, it makes a mess. I don't know how it will handle the corn stalks. I have never raked them and hope I never have to! Root balls might be a problem. These rakes run on the ground.

We looked at alot of wheel rakes and went with a Kuhn. Most expensive but after talking with people and looking at them I think there is a reason. Kuhn is much heavier and more user friendly. We bought a 108 thinking it would match up well behing a 9ft 9 in mower. It did. Totally satisfied with the rake. We kept one 6 bar rake thinking we would want to use it to rake ahead of the square baler in really nice alfalfa. It never left the shed. This rake really shinned in cornstalks for us.

I think NH and h&h are more expensive. The frontier rake is built by Kuhn

I have a SR 112 and rake over 1000 acres of alfalfa and grass per season no corn stalks. I agree with Eddie statements. That said be sure to run with hydraulics in float position, when I do not run in float it leaves a little hay behind. Over all an excellent value for what you spend. Have ran it for three full seasons on under $15 in total parts. I would buy another no questions asked.

Who says Frontier rakes are made by Kuhn? Kuhn does not make wheel rakes for Frontier.

I know this an old post but I found it and have a question for sagebrush. I just got an SR112. It works good but it seems like there is alot more pressure on the back wheels then the front. We have hitch set right and if we crank on the spring to take the pressure off then the front sometimes don't hit the ground. We have it set for a 3 1/2' finished windrow. Also I'm wondering if it's when I lower the arms. Do you lower arms until the teeth just hit and go right to float postion and let the springs take it from there or do you let the hydraulics drive the arms down as far they will go until they stop and then go to float. Again the rake works pretty well but I'm just trying to get it adjust a little better. thanks

We're going try our rake on corn stalks this fall as well. That was another reason we went with a wheel rake.
