Columbia Basin, Ephrata, WA | That's nowhere near cheap enough. 2470's around here were only worth 1/2 that ten years ago. The only people left that can make money with those old tractors are the scrappers.

| the engine is likely ready to go. and the trans is on its way out. |

Manila, Ar | is there a blue light special on these tractors...............i thought they had all been scrapped, like all other Case tractors...........:) |

| I bought one for 5k about nine years ago, and it is still going. Finding parts is not bad because there are so many junked ones around. Watch out for powershift and planetaries. If the powershift works, change the trans filter OFTEN. Get a cordless grease gun for the many, many zerks. I think a 2470 is about 175 hp - the 504 is a good motor - not great, but good. If you have hills you will love the crab steering. Good balance, light footprint - terrible AC |

north west arkansas | I would buy it alot cheaper, but we have one and it has been a very good tractor. |

Manitoba | We use one with a blade for pushing silage piles, spent all saturday in it and heading out to go again for 2 days to get the corn silage done. It has been good for us but we use them and 2670 and don't have issues with them. Most HATE them though so be prepared for abuse when posting. Not saying they are the best tractors but for us they work and they can be found cheap. That price is a bit high but depends on condition / tires etc. If using for pushing silage I like the transmission as the powershift is easy to flick in and out of reverse compared to shifting the gear from forward to reverse as on other tractors of the same era. |

Central East River South Dakota | We had a 2670 with a 14ft dozer b4 it started on fire, replaced it with a 4890 with a 16ft dozer. A 24/2670's front axle kingpins can't handle the extra weight of a dozer w/ duals on. We broke the front one's 3 times before we took the front duals off, which seemed to cure that. The 2870 and all the 90 series had heaveir front axles to handle the weight/leverage of a blade and dual combo. The crab steer is nice for pushing silage, if you know how to use it. You can almost always back away from a side without the risk of falling off, which is more difficult in an articulater. That being said, way more traditional 4wds pushing silage than old Cases. The 4890 was a big step up from the 2670 we had. Its not perfect, but I will take its partial powershift over a JD Quad everyday of the week, especially when it comes to pushing. Why couldn't Deere put in at least two two trans. control levers like the 2wd Quads? That whole sharing one lever to run both ranges and gears, that engineering kept us in Cases alone. But if you end up with a Case, don't you dare brag about it on here, I am sure I am gonna ruffle some green feathers on this one. Good Luck. |

Eastern VA. No such thing as too many Magnums. | I know nothing about them. Never even seen one up close. But this picture always makes me laugh.

Word I got on the single stick deal was that operators pulling loaded sugar cane wagons in LA and FL were shifting the range lever on the go (BIG no-no), and causing shaft failures. Going to the single stick allegedly made this impossible to do. Could be wrong, was before my time. |
