Subject: Polyurea grease in a traditional lithium location?

nc IA
Ok, searched all the old grease threads, heres a question I haven't seen answered yet.

In the intrest of carrying one grease type, would there be the concerns of using a polyurea based grease in a traditionaly lithium / lithium complex grease location. location in mind is the Variable speed pulley on my 1460. seen the issues mentioned about a moly grease centrifuging out and locking up at that high speed / load application and can't find info on if a polyurea would do the same thing?

Thanks

I have found that the best benefit of the polyurea (I use the JD flavor) is that it doesn't get hard over the off season. Mostly noticed in variable-speed sheeves on the combine. It doesn't appear to sling out too bad

Should work well, as polyurea has no solid additive like moly.
Used to be that polyurea and other grease were not compatible, but most newer polyurea will work fine if pumped into a place that already contains another grease. Your grease maker / seller should have that info.

I would disagree haveing had some problems latley not fun or cheep. Two year old planter with Dawn openers and closers put on at dealer and greased with polyuea at dealership Dawn uses lithim complex. I started haveing problems at 1 1/2 season it looked like someone had used play do to pack the breaning. Long story short $3600.00 for brg and seals and 2 men 2 days later. will not mix greases again. Grease is not just something slick.

The previous owner used JD Polyurea grease on this drive and it seemed to be fine.

It is a good bet that rlbsek problem was caused by the dealer using old style non compatible polyurea instead of the shear stable polyurea which can be mixed with most other grease without problems. I have mixed JD polyurea with other greases as well as mobil 1 synthetic grease with other types without problem.

Archer petroleum has some excellent greases that will get the job done. There lubrishield grease is a Polyurea grease that is second to nobody. I have used it for years with excellent results. They also have a lithium based an moly based grease for many applications. Check out Archer oil .com for more details

Thanks for the input guys. I had another finding this evening when I was at the local fleet farm store, I picked up a extra tube of my favorite wheel bearing grease - Mystic red high temp JT6 and read that it is a Lithium Complex grease, so I grabbed a extra couple tubes and will use that for the VS pulley. The polyurea I use is either FS Blue (Archer) or JD green Polyurea. So at least I'll be able to go down to just 1 primary grease and then the wheelbearing lithium complex as the second.

You have added to my confidence that using a high quality poly urea should be fine in all but a few applications.

Downtown Shell Knob MO Come Visit!
I bought a couple cases of "food grade" grease at an auction once. It says nothing but "USDA certified for use in federally regulated slaugher and food processing facilities." Ive always wondered what kind of grease it is. I mostly use it to lube chains because Im afraid to mix it with anything else.
