On our sleeper trucks ,we place the dot inspection sticker on the right side box .

On the day cab trucks ,we put the sticker on the pillar rear of the right door .

On trailers its on the right front corner .

Slicker than a Yes album.
In MN all of our trucks have it in the lower left corner of the drivers windshield. Trailers are on the left side (as sitting in it) near the front. On our Wilsons, they put it in the aluminum rail channel, not the white paint above.

I didn't know there WAS such a law.

You don't need a visible annual inspection sticker, just the paperwork in the truck.

My paperwork that is only in my truck with no stickers on the outside is also good for all states.

I have a feeling that inspection forms can come with stickers and some come without stickers. Seen and have had both. Just a difference in where you get them. You only need the paperwork in the truck. But then again it's the DOT, each officer was taught from a different rule book so they have all their bases covered.

If it was required to have a sticker visible they would require you to have 2. One for both sides of the truck/trailer because if it was the law, the only reason to have it visible would be for when you roll up to a weigh station. We've all seen weigh stations have the buildings on the drivers side and passengers side. Sooo, only need it in the truck.

I was thinking it actually no longer had to be on the truck... just the paperwork/sticker in the truck.

I guess it depends on which officer you run across.

My DOT mechanic said you don't have to put the stickers on the outside, just have the paperwork. But he also said having the sticker on the left rear where a trooper will see it when he walks up to your truck can't hurt.

I always put them inside the toolbox door on my KW, never been asked by a DOT for the sticker, just the paperwork. If they wanted to see the sticker I'd just open up the door.
