| I recently upgraded to a 1460 from an Allis F and have a few questions. The display for the tach , rotor speed , and fan speed is not working. I don't think the tach or fan speed will be an issue but I am concerned about rotor speed. I will be starting oats tomorrow followed by wheat then rye. I guess my questions are (1) What is the rotor speed variations on the low speed side and high speed side and do they overlap ?(2) Is there any hints to know when I am getting closer? Never ran anything but old gleaners and still have a Allis K sitting on ready if all else fails :) |

Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | Does the display light up but no numbers show for most monitor functions ? If so, remove the square panel to the right of the cab door and see if the mice have chewed off the monitor cable. It spouts from a hole in the panel right below the tool box. Mice cant get into the area below the seat as long as that multi wire cable is in there, so they chew it off. Repair the cable and wrap the cable with heavy screen or hardware cloth for several inches beyond the hole, to prevent their chewing it off again.
If the console does not light up, check the fuse for it under the cover at the rear of the console. |

| Lights up and flashes "O" on every function. Repaired some rat damage already but am unsure as to the location of the rotor speed sensor. Have only chased wires directly under instrument pannel thus far. |

NCent. IN | yes...the speeds overlap some and yes you can tell"seat of the pants" when the rotor is turning faster or slower...but you really ought to get the monitor working.

The rotor speed sensor is at the front of the combine just above the feeder housing (toothed wheel on rotor and sensor on front panel.)
The mice took out all monitor function on both my 1480's. On both machines it was the monitor cable chewed off below the tool box. remove that cab panel to the right of the cab door and take a look, bets thats where the problem is. Mice seem to leave the rest of the wiring alone. |

Wallis, TX | If it turns out to be the tach and not bad wires, I bet Ag Express can fix it for a lot less than one from the red dealer. |
