South Australia | I've been running trimble 500 and topcon X20 both off of topcon base with no issues. I just bought FX750 and autopilot for new to me tractor, I chose to go with the trimble because of the ability to map and steer all my headlands which the topcon cannot do. Otherwise I would have gone topcon. I paid the extra for Glonass on the 750 and it won't seem to pick up the Glonass sats after reading on this forum it seems others have had issues with glonass and generic CMR radio's. Yes the base it Glonass enabled and if I bought an X20 it would've been standard. Bloody guidance I have spend too much on it the last few years and just can't seem to find what I'm happy with. I'll be peeved if it doesn't work, fingers crossed.......

Hillsboro, AL | At this point in time no Trimble receiver will work on Glonass via CMR from a non-Trimble base. Are you listening Trimble? Will the 750 accept RTCM3? If so you may get Glonass that way. But I have been told the 750 does not support RTCM3. This is obviously Trimble's attempt to force you to use all Trimble equipment.

Nebraska | I can confirm the 750 doesn't work on RTCM 3.1

Plain Trimble CMR has never included Glonass corrections. CMR+ does include the Glonass corrections. I have heard Topcon salesman saying that they output CMR+ but CMR+ is a property Trimble format.

Brisbane, Australia | Yes, as discussed on previous topics, I have GNSS FMX's running off GNSS Topcon Construction bases. It took some doing but it worked fine untill that particular base owner went to RTCM 3 and we were outed. We knew that if that ever happened our customer would have to buy his own base and he was told that explicitly. Fore-warned is for-armed and we did just that with this customer so when the s..t hit the fan, he didn't complain. Honestly, since when should it have been obligatory for Trimble to come down to the lowest common denominator and why should they even be bothered in the first place? The money they spend on R&D (even though a lot of us practical people think it is misguided sometimes) is aimed at their own product, not making their competition feel good about themselves. When Trimble develops technology or protocols that their competition tries to either copy or back engineer, why does one wonder when these things don't seem to work together smoothly. Hey, I'm not a great fan of some of the politics in the industry but fair go, give Trimble a break. If you went and bought a Topcon base (and from what I've been seeing in the market here, I'll bet you bought on price, and ignored historical industry performance outcomes, reliability and reputation), then go and ask Topcon why their gear won't work with Trimble - not the reverse! If you wanted a solution that has been working for years with no real issues you wouldn't have gone and bought gear from the newest chums in the market. Don't be peeved, just accept you started a path first up that may or may not get you what you want or take you where you want to go! Edited by aglasergps 4/10/2011 04:09

South Australia | I didn't buy a Topcon base I am part of a large syndicate of farmers in the area that own it and I am simply trying to do the best I can with what is affordable to me. Edited by rusty1 4/10/2011 07:16

Brisbane, Australia | Yeah, that's fair enough but still doesn't change the state of play. If you can get it to work, great. If you can't, live with it (like we had too!) but don't pay out someone like Trimble because you can't get what you want.

South Australia | The CFX 750 seems to be picking up extra sats but it is only using some of them. Today in satellite status I had 12 sats but only 8 being used. Topcon say if RTK is working they cannot see why glonass shouldn't. Thanks Russ
