I am going to replace my sweeps and I was wondering if case ih sweeps was the best option. I have always heard their earth metal disc blades were the best and they said the dealers I talked to said the sweeps were earth metal also. I just bought this cultivator and it has case ih on it now. I have found a place selling nichols "noc on" ultra wings for a cheaper price but I didnt how they would last compared to others.

Many suppliers offer "good" sweeps. Nichols, Wiese, etc all offer a strong, hard sweep that will last. The difference with CIH/Earthmetal is the ductility. These sweeps are as hard as anyone and will outlast anyone, but also can flex with impact from rocks and such. For the money, earthmetal is the best...but most are good. Beware of garbage imports that are flooding the tillage business. You will soon begin seeing junk from all over the far east that is hard, brittle, and will snap off or prematurely wear out.... Broken tillage pieces in your soil are great matches for expensive tractor and combine tires. :)

We just picked up our sweeps on sale at our CASEIH dealer for $ 7.38 including the bolts for CASEIH sweeps. I did not think that was a bad price at all and I know what I got and know they are going to last and I have never seen one break yet. We have a few JD guys around here that are putting CASEIH sweeps on there JD field cult.

We have run CIH sweeps on our JD diggers and liked them better at the time. Last year we went to Nichols noc on sweeps and they seem to stay sharp longer but the wings dont last any longer.

Just had this conversation this afternoon with a friend, the CaseIH will outlast the other around here twice as long. Put some cheaper plows on year or so ago and within a week we had to change them again.

Did they stay on ok? I am worried about losing them.

CNH and utra wings very close, can buy the ultra wings 7" for 6.70 1/4 thick. or you can buy JD if you like replacing sweeps.

Just ordered some chrome-alloy sweeps from RH Machine ...don't plan on changing them for SEVERAL years........good chrome-alloy is the way to go.....Had some old accra's we bought and ran for probably 12 years on a 960 s-tine.......about 1000 acres per year.
