North west MN | I am looking at a few track tractors. Beside the hood and looks did the 8420T have alot of updates that are worth it over a 8400T. Of course I can get the 8400T alot cheaper |

| The 20 series offered the Active Seat, and I am only familiar with the wheeled version, a nice option in my opinion. Also HID lights, and some say the transmission was
improved to allow smoother shifting, in the 20. The hood tilts on the 20, much improved over the 00, so think longterm, and how long you plan to run it. |

North west MN | Doesn't the active seat come in the 8400T and 8410T?
Is the active seat mean the armrest controll goes up and down with the seat or is there something else it does? |
ND | Active seat is for wheeled tractors only. |

Columbia Basin, Ephrata, WA | There is more to Active Seat. You're thinking CommandArm.

| I know the 20 have it for shure possibly switched during the 10 series don't know for shure but on the 00's the idler/boggy wheels are a pain in the butt to change because it is like taking a hub apart to change the boggy wheel, drain the oil, make shure the seal is good (they cost over a 100 bucks for a pair) and change the races/bearings and eveything where on the newer one the boggies bolt on just like a normal tire as the bearings/hub all stay attached to the tractor much much easier to change. Edit: I forgot they could have been changer over to the new style but it was quite costly so very unlike it has been done on very many tractors. Dennis SEND

| Changes that I know of. 20's, Hood opens, Transmission shifts better, Weight bracket bends up so you can cross ditches easier, Bogie wheels are on a hub so it is a 2 piece system instead of 1, HID lights were an option, greasable lower pin on front idler wheels(8000t's didn't have one but most have had them put in since then), ability to hang more weights on the side of the motor towards the front for more weight. |

NE Iowa | I don't think you could get 8000T at 120" track spacing - that wasn't available until 8010T. Not sure what it would take to make an 8000T 120", but I am guessing it involves a new 'bar' or bar extension and new axle housings. That would be an expensive conversion.

Your moms house | You could get a wide stance 00 series but they were less common since they only made them a year or two. |
North-East Texas | Could be wrong.... but the 8400T is not auto-steer ready, correct?
That would be one big difference. |
North west MN | I use all trimble auto steer and all you do is tee into the electric steering cables to attach the auto steer |
North west MN | I would not want 120 inch spacing we are at 88" and 120 will not go to 88" both tractors I am looking at are at 88" |
Western IA | I believe our 8345RT has an active seat. |

Dennis,
How are the boggy wheels on the 8300, 8310, and 8320's?
thanks,

Thompson ND / Grand Forks ND | No John Deere track tractor has the Active Seat option. If you look at the front of the upper seat cushion, it will say Active Seat w/ some pretty little scribbling/stitching. Track tractors = normal air seat (which was improved on in the 10 series). |
