Eastern Iowa | Reading a post earlier about GPS requirements for the 20/20, so I pulled up the PP site and looked at the 20/20 manual. I see they only require GGA and RMC at 1 Hz on 4800 baud. That seems a little slow to do an accurate job of controlling row shutoff's. Most of the competition are using at least 5hz and a baud rate of 19,200. I know for example Ag Leader requires 4hz for any type of swath control, thats four times faster than the 20/20. Maybe its not quite Precision Planting. Unless you need to change those settings for Row Flow, not sure on that.

Redwood Falls, MN | I didn't realize the 1Hz requirement the first year and was sending it 5 Hz. Messed up the maps. Lance O.

Washington CH, OH | RowFlow requires a upgraded GPS. The GPS you get with a 20/20 base kit is only a 1hz unit. A faster unit is an option when you purchase RowFlow from PP.

Southern Indiana | The 1 Hz is a minimum requirement. I can assure you that I have personally used an Ag Leader 1500 set at 5 Hz and 19,200 baud with no problems. I don't know about going to 10 Hz but I don't see why that wouldn't work either.

Kentucky | DSever - 3/12/2011 16:00 RowFlow requires a upgraded GPS. The GPS you get with a 20/20 base kit is only a 1hz unit. A faster unit is an option when you purchase RowFlow from PP. They also use a radar tied in for quicker speed calculations when you are using row flow in order to get the swath control dialed in.

I'm pretty sure the radar was for backup control of the hydraulic motors in a variable rate setup. I hope so, since I didn't have a radar on the tractor last year. The "brain" for the rowflow, which is mounted on the planter has a couple gyroscopes in it, so it knows if you are slowing down at the field ends. This improves the row shutoff accuracy.

East Central Kansas | You do need to change the settings when you upgrade to RowFlow. The recommendation is to go to 5 Hz and 38400 baud rate for control of hydraulic drives and swath control. In most cases people that added RowFlow also needed to upgrade GPS receivers. The little one that comes with the 20/20 is not good enough for higher end applications. It was mainly used for speed input to make installs easier.

North Carolina | 1934 A, Did you route the adapter harness yourself? I'm trying to, but it looks like I'll have to pull the headliner down or cab top off to get the harness from the Deere receiver to the PP tractor harness! Any hints to make it easier? Thanks. Matthew
