Walnut Grove, MN. | N-14 Cummins big block. are they any good?what does 370/430HP mean on the N-14 cummins? |
| I have heard very good things about the engines in terms of reliabilty and ease/cost of repair. I don't know, but I am guessing the HP ratings are 370 continuous and 430 peak? |

| I think 370 on the pedal
and 430 on cruise |
Walnut Grove, MN. | would that be good horse power for a 40 ft grain trailer? |

Colby, KS | The N14 came in 2 variations. Based on the venerable 855 Cummins, tt was made with all mechanical injection for a couple years and was called the N14-STC. Then, it changed to computerized fuel system called the N14-CELECT.
I think the number means that it was built as a 370 horsepower and has been turned up to 430. If I recall correctly, 430 is the max for the N14.
It has the reputation for durability, but one weakness is low oil pressure. Broken piston cooling nozzles are a common culprit. I have one in the shop for that right now. It was making 12 psi oil pressure once warmed up. Oh boy

Tuscola County, MI | If an N-14 has the red valves covers, commonly called redheads, you can get up to 525 hp out of them. |

Central Nebraska | We have 2 semis with N-14 Celect Plus red top. I believe there are 3 different variations of the motor base on the CPL code. I pull a 42' trailer up to 100K lbs and it handles fine. Great engine if taken care of |

Hastings, Florida | N-14 engines are a good reliable work-horse. My choice of engines. Very easy to have HP changed with computer modifications. 370 HP is sufficient for flat ground pulling. |

| Have two of them one in a Kenworth and one in a binder, Love Em! |

Central, mn | i have a n14 with about 25 oil pressure, should there be something i should be looking for? |
Hastings, Florida | Cummins says 25 psi at 1200 rpm is ok. Should low speed idle at 10. Cummins do not require high oil pressure. Mine idles at 12, runs at 29. Shop says that is fine. |

Walnut Grove, MN. | its a 9100I they are asking $18,000 for it. with 552,000 miles. |
Panhandle of Ne. | That sounds like a reasonable price for those miles. |
| Ours is a 2000 9200I, 850,000 no problems yet. Sounds about right. |

| cummins power told me a 370-430 means it has 370 all the time and when you;re out on the road in high gear and have pedal on the floor for certain amount of time the computer will turn it up to 430, BSF is right on the front end of these engines, some of that problem is caused by over tight fan belts, good luck, steve |

The Breakfast Club | I bought a truck with one June/'10. So far I'm pretty happy with it. Set at 525hp, runs strong, good mileage and doesn't use any oil. All I've been told about them is to keep up on the overhead adjustment (goes without saying I guess) and to roll in bearings every 500,000 miles...otherwise it's about the simplest power out there. |
