West Central MN (between MMF and Larson's)
Opinions on make and manufacturers?

Grip-Trac was recommended by dealership if we decide to do it.

Going on a 7010 or 8010 CIH.

Sank in 3 inches walking in the field yesterday, now they are forcasting 1" plus more and more in the long range forecast.

Grip-Trac- simple, very well built, sloooooooooow on the road. We have a set of Grip Trac tracks on our grain cart and have been happy with them, but I'm not impressed with having to pick corn in 3rd gear and only being able to run 8mph down the road in a combine.

ATI- very well built, not as simple as the Grip Trac, but is able to run 15-16 mph down the road. You do have to have some sort of anti-rollover device installed. We have a set of these on our combine and are happy with them so far. The only time it stopped was when dad was on his phone and dropped one of the tracks directly in a hole where the combine with duals and RWA had been stuck.

Soucy- I have heard of some of these having issues with the main bearings on combines, but there are lots of sets out there.

West Michigan
Grip Trac is Gilbert Riplo. They are made here in Michigan. Very good tracks. Fred is a good guy to deal with. He often times will find used ones for you as well. Been known to line up semi loads from one area to ship to a area that is very wet.

We got along good with grip trac last year, very simple, easy to install and no maintenance.. you were limited to around 11MPH down the road. Fred did say at the FPS that they are using a bigger drive sprocket this year so road speed is a little faster.

Yes you can but they have to be taken back to the factory for them to do it.

Why not buy the quad-trac system for your combine through your Case IH dealer? You would then have a product that is engineered by the manufacturers of your combine. At the same time, you can maintain the highest road speed on a combine tracks system...

central - east central Minnesota -
They are all represented at the Big Iron Show, last day tomorrow (Thursday) . . . . I would think the CaseIH quad-tracks would be the best way to go, though . . . .

Not Grip Trac, but yes, RDO has a set of ATIs with the high idlers there. Soucy is there as well. Word in the JD building was that Camoplast is working on something.

Looks like it's a good thing we left ours on.

Chad H - 9/15/2010 18:54   Word in the JD building was that Camoplast is working on something.

Harain (based in Germany) is working on combine tracks for Deere.  Combines prototypes with these tracks were spotted in Europe and in the Delta.

Those things are about 2' too narrow and 3' too short to be worth anything in mud. The guy who said what I did above seemed to know what he was talking about.

Those are the same tracks that were in the pics of the 2012 JD combine that somebody posted awhile back. Look like a poor design IMO.
