North East Iowa | The Iowa State rate sheet says an average of .20 a horse per hour. That makes a 225 hp. tractor $45 an hour. Thats just for the tractor, no fuel or driver. I thought that seemed high, maybe more around $30 would be fair? How much would you pay if you needed to rent a tractor just to fill in for a couple of weeks? |

I can rent a tractor here for $25 to $30 for a MFD around 200 hp. Of course the price depends on the number of hours rented and the HP needed. As far as fuel goes, I want the tractor full when I rent it and I will return it the same way.

| If you're on the renting out side you want to look at what the extra hours will cost you. If you need a tractor for just a few hours in a short period of time most dealers will rent a tractor for less than what it's actual value is because most of the time anything they get from it is profit. Example if they have a 200 hp tractor with 2000 hours there it's worth $$. If they rent it to you and you put 100 hours on it, it's probably still worth the same $$.
If you look at construction equipment the daily and weekly rental is about a third more than a monthly rental is so $45 for a short term is probably comparable to $30 over a long term rent. |

Southwest Missouri | depending on whether you are the "rentor" or the "rentee". I would not rent out any of our equipment. We are particular and doubt that many, if any, would treat the equipment as we do. Too many things can go wrong. Who pays for what repairs? What damage will not show up now, but will in the future?
If I was renting, then I would shop around and get the best deal. The best deal is not always the cheapest, but you probably already know that. |
