Subject: Viewing DTAC Solutions

SCMN

Is there a place on Deere's website that I can view and search DTAC Solutions?  Or is that restricted to dealers?  Seems like it would save some time for me and my dealer if I could look through them myself.

Well that's BS! In this day and age of information at everyone's fingertips why would they restrict it? Are they afraid to admit that they have so many problems that they have an entire archive dedicated to solving them? News flash Deere, everyone has problems. Being good at solving them, and in a timely fashion, is a huge selling point.

On a side note, if anyone wants to "accidentally" email me their password to view them I can keep a secret...

By keeping it dealer only, they can keep one layer of lawyers (and the marketing people as well) out of the picture. Deere has done a good job of making their material public, but if they opened up this system, we would get far less useful stuff. I think they've done a good compromise here.

I will send you my ID and password when you send me you bank account numbers and passwords...............Just Kidding

If I or anyone with that clearance were to do that any and all clearances to access the Deere system would be taken away permanently. I don't think that anyone really wants that now do they?

I don't know about JD, but we have to use different passwords, and they can't be anything common either. Like months, FEB or Apr, etc.

Must have small case letters and capital letters and digits, too. (in each password)

Also, can't reuse any passwords, of the last 12 passwords, that you have once used before.

I have a system, but I still have to write them down somewhere, too.

I see that you actually have read the box you have to click past to get into their system. Good for you.

If I lost my access to Deere's systems, I wouldn't be able to do my job. Giving away my password would risk my income. No thanks. I do realize that had been a joke.

On the same vein, I'm very careful with any copying of non-public information to this board. I don't care to risk my livelihood just to be helpful. Machine history is one example. I'm probably being too careful, but I don't want to place a bet.

People on the outside would crap thier pants if they new about all the updates, repairs, bullitans, and such that comes out of Deere or Cat. There would be customer's screaming at the dealer all the time, if they could see into those places. "Why aren't you out fixing my machine before it blows up?" Noone on here would own anything from JD, Cat, or IH if they could see the things that service managers and techs can see.

I agree that Deere is pretty good at putting information out there. I frequent the Operators Manuals and Parts pages and they are always very helpful. I just didn't think viewing DTAC would be such a big deal. Never hurts to ask.

its not a big deal, its there to help the techs, a piece of equipment is brought in, if the problem is new to the tech he can go to dt and see if there is any info about it. they can do a serial number search and see what work has been logged for that tractor as well. the general public is not missing anything. if there piece of equipment has a recall or update a good service manager is getting it taken care of.
there is also a phone line to an engineer if the tech finds something new or has a question. can you imagine every joe out there tying up them lines.

the last thing as a technition you want is a customer who thinks he knows it all but for some reason cant do it himself. get a bunch of "dtac says" or look at this print out kinda crap. i would probably be fired or quiting if it got that way, bad enough that once a year you had to tell a guy that maybe he should be fixing it.
then you would have the guys that didnt notice a serial number break or something that took there tractor out of the dt info that they found, then they come in wondering why there 10 year old tractor never had updates, then the service manager is spending all day reading peoples paper work they found on there tractor to see if it fits or not, running serial numbers to see if the work got done or not.
ever take your car to a repair shop? they have the same internet type of thing, they buy into the software so they can use it.

I really get a kick out of the great disdain you hold for the people who you actually work for.

Just sayin'...

There's darn sure a reason we have a shop and do our own work.
