Subject: 7088 clean grain elevator plugging

Central Kansas
First week of 7088 in corn (dryland) and pushing it but not hard enough to plug the clean grain elevator, but when the bin gets full the elevator plugs. Use to have this problem on the older xx88 when the incline auger got worn, not the case here. Checked the chain tension, on the high speed sprocket, incline auger latched down. Any other experiences or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks,

Scott

Make sure you have the shoe sieve all the way open.

While I don't have an answer to your question, that would just plain suck. I got a 6088 last year and that was one of the things I liked. Not hearing the slip clutch slipping when the bin got full like on a 2388. Only time I heard it when some how I accidently hit the auto settings for the cleaning system and it changed it to some other setting that I think the dealer left in there when setting it up. Took me a while to figure that out.

our combine did that, and we put a bubble up auger on it. The pressure of the corn against the auger filling the hopper keeps the auger from taking the grain away causing the elevator to plug. It solved our problem, but this is on a 2166.

Check the springs on the elevator drive slip clutch. If they are a dull yellow in color, there have been issues with some of them breaking. The new ones are a light gray in color and are first used on machine serial number YAG003738. New part number is 84301305. They can be used on older machines also.

Replaced the yellow springs with the grey, we will see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the input.
