Here's a BB900 New Holland with a Keith Wheel. I drove it around the dealer lot, sorta funky feeling!

central - east central Minnesota -
So, how does that work ? Does the cab/wheel swing to the side, so it doesn't run on the windrow? What size bales does it make - 3 string/wire?

3 twine baler, no A/C in the cab. I understand a fella out of Tracy California made this set up. There are several around Yerington, NV. On this one, there is a pulley and belt added on the back of engine that drives a hydraulic pump. The tongue shifts to get the big wheel, is on the side of the windrow. Very manuverable, but lacked lots of creature comforts.

I had one years ago. It was kinda fun to run for the first couple years but a lot nicer now with the cabs we have on tractors. It runs off a hyd pump and motor on the wheel....

Boomer,
I suppose we drove right by your place yesterday. We came home from Yerington via Schurz and Fallon?

Not toward it either..

It's just a boggy wheel and that setup will beat you to death and try to snap your neck in the process !  It appears the cab swings on that light weight tubing running back to the swather??   I can't imagine it was designed to run over the windrow with that front wheel. No AC in that cab, would be like sitting in a roaster..

Structurally not nearly heavy enough.  The boogy wheel is way too small and in wrong spot. And only be worse riding if you have ditches in your fields.  There should be at least an airplane size tire on the boogy wheel. Back wheels should be larger also.  It's probably smooth driving around the sales yard, but windrowed hay isn't in parking lots.

I'd be willing to bet the frame isn't strong enough to handle that set up at all. Safe bet there is not nearly enough HP in that engine either, expecially if you are climbing any hills at all.

Concept is not new at all, but way under-gunned structually/HP/ and cab positioning.

Next day or so I will get you some pics of a self-propelled swather.

Mike while your are at it, how about pics of that stout baler, and how does a stroke counter work, I've been wrapping that idea around in my head for a long time but don't see anything short of fancy electronics(think$$$$).

The guy went from "I don't want you taking pictures of it",, to " You can take pictures when it's done"...

He's not in the least afraid of someone seeing his engineering so much as People wanting to buy directly from him.  Same principle as buying from say JD right off the end of the build line vs: buying through your local dealer.  He sells the machines through "Liberty Ag" thou they are simply the marketing they build none/zero of the balers.

All the parts aside from the frame parts are right off the JD/NH/Freeman shelves.  The latest one is supposed to be done this week, so I'll check again on Wensday/Thurs.

Bale stroke speed is pretty simple,, sensor on the back end of the plunger and the "receiver" same spot, sends signal to readout mounted on side of front windshield.  No different than the "speedometer" on a swather. Only difference would be is speeding up until the stroke counter started dropping below 100 strokes per minute.

Can be done manually, sorta accurate by watching and if real lucky catching the knotter cycle, then watching when the bale falls off the 1/4 turn chute, to hit the 18 strokes per bale.

You're right there is some $$$ involved.
