| I am conidering purchasing a John Deere 2755 but before I do this I was trying to establish the cost of one that is in excellent condition along with what the horsepower would be. I would also like to know the pro's and con's on this tractor. Thank You. |

Tuscarora, MD | Should be 75 hp. This series of ut's was basically over-engineered in the hydraulic/ rockshaft and transmission department and couldn't compete with MF and Ford on gov't bids. That is why deere went to the open center and straight cut gears (collar shift) on the 5000 series (produce a cheaper tractor). Also it rumored that deere did not make enough profit on the 55's. I was a deere mechanic when the 5000 series was introduced and we all thought they would be a joke compared to the 55 series. Turns out that initially we we're right, but deere made some significant changes to the 5000's and they have something pretty solid now. As far as the 55's, I would say you can't go wrong. They are priced higher than comp's on resale. If you can justify it, do it. The weak point would be the dry clutch and ocassionally a hi/lo pack problem. Most of the hi/lo and reverser problems were because operators ran the trans way low on oil or clogged filters. Also operators would forget that you need to release the hand parking brake before driving. You can't fix stupid. Strong points are engine(very smooth), hyd, trans, rockshaft, and comfort. Very easy to split and work on. |

Elizabethtown,KY | I bought a new one in '88 and kept it til '93 when I traded it on a 6300. Mine had a cab, dynoed 95 hp just as it came off the truck, pulled a 6 row planter, spread fertilizer with it, bush hog, disk mower, round baler, etc. Had no trouble at all with mine, put 2000 hrs on it before trading, only thing I didn't like is the hump in the middle of the cab floor, I'm 6'4" tall and that was the only thing I didn't like about the tractor. |

Tuscarora, MD | It's gotta be the water plant or post office. |

Badlands of Alberta | Arguably the last of the best of Deere's utility tractors. Final refinement of the owl cab, last of the pre-electronics,last of the long noses. |

west central ohio | Bought a 1988 model 6yrs ago with 4000hr on it gave 15000 for it. It is a Row crop model not a utility. Bought new jd 620 loader 3yrs ago for 6500.00. Like the Hi Lo but mine has some hyd issues. When moving bales and hy oil gets warm at idle I lose all hyd steering and remotes and loader. Deere ckecked it and said after 1000.00 labor that it could be many different problems. Wish it had a reverser on it for loader use tired of cluthing all the time. Good on fuel better than 4440and 4430 anyway. Been told by salavage yard watch out for electrial fires they had 5 of them burnt. |

| A pretty good tractor, but the dry clutch is a really big downside, especially on a loader or for chores that require frequent clutching. Used 6000 series can get down in price. |

Breckinridge County, Kentucky | about $44-$45,000, but it was basically brand new. Had only 750hrs on it! Looked like it had just been delivered from dealer. Had a cab, 4wd, and loader. Had the grapple fork on it too. Really nice tractor
