Subject: Gensco Aircraft Tires

Sarnia, Ontario
Has anybody dealt with Gensco for tires? I am looking for some used heavy ply tires to mount on my Woods rotary chopper. The size I need is 27 x 7.75 x 15 which Gensco says will fit on a 7.60 - 15 x 4 bolt rim. I talked to the dealer on the phone - said they could be shipped OK - just that shipping cost was going to be 1/2 the cost of tire and rim. They are located in Houston Texas - long way from me. Does anybody know of another source?
Thanks

Subject: RE: Gensco Aircraft Tires-------we use them, no problems........

probably not the least expensive.......have not really checked, but our flats and downtime have decreased considerably.

Not supposed to use them where might have high heat loads, since the thick tires do not disperse it very well...............we just don't use them on highway trailers.

Shipping is going to be a problem from that far away, because they are heavy.

I buy from HEY Machine in Baldwin KS. http://heywheel.com/

The size you want to replace a 7.60-15 correctly is a 30x8.8 The 27x7.75 is WAY undersize in height.

Jim, we use these tires on almost everything but as of lately the plys have been as low as 10 ply rating.
you want at least the 16 ply and the 22 ply ratings that we used to get never got a flat. have had a few on the 16 ply but very few. but we always ask the ply now and wont take any 10 ply rating, i would advise you to do the same or you wont be happy with them.

What are you using these tires on?
Thanks for the heads up on the ply differences - I assumed they would be heavy ply - you probably saved me from a dissappointment that I would have to accept if I purchased them.
When I talked to the dealer he said the tires can be installed on a standard rim with a tire change machine. If the tires were 16 ply then I think it might be a tight fit.
Most heavy ply used aircraft tires I have seen were mounted on a 2 piece rim.
Thanks for your sharing your knowledge.

If you get the 22 ply tires they are probably worth the tire cost plus shipping. I put a set on the front of our mower tractor (11.00x16) many years ago and have never had a flat. Before we were replacing tires yearly and repairing lots of flats.

Gensco has another store in Anniston, AL. Shipping might be a little less from there.

We used them on the dollys of our double 750 drills with great luck, we had tried truck tires, implement tires, and the good year slicks. The Gensco tires lasted longest, till we traded it off. I did change one because of a bent rim (put old tire on new rim) and it was a job even with a tire changer. The bead is about 1 1/2" thick.

good luck, Jeff

I bought the complete tire and wheel assemblies to replace 7.50 x 15 on the front of my loader tractor. I gave them the bolt pattern and rim offset and they sent me an almost perfect match. Rims are heavier than original and tire is rated at 14,000# load and 210 mph. Cost was just over $100 each delivered and 6 ply replacement tri rib tires would have been $80 plus mounting. I've never flattened these tires a bit even with as much weight as the loader will lift. Gensco even offers some type of tri rib recap which I might try when one of the larger tractors needs a tire. One other thing, they send you the tires/wheels and then you mail them a check.

The original tires that came on this mower were 7.60-15 - I wish laminated tires had been on it when I bought it. Thanks for trying!
