| Does anyone have any experience with these tractors? My grandmother has one back home and am interested in shinning it up. Since my grandpa passed, nobody uses it. The neighbors come over to blow snow, so it just sits in the shed. What kind of HP does it have? I looked on tractorhouse ( http://www.tractorhouse.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=5711182 ) and found one without a cab that was reconditioned and listed 104 HP. Is that right or has it been tweaked? That tractor looks great. Grandmas has a cab and I think it could look as good! The only other Hydro 100 listed is just like grandmas ( http://www.tractorhouse.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=5719156 ) but says it has 20HP. One of these listings can't be right.
Anyway I just was wondering if anyone has any information on these tractors. Thank you very much! |

Washington, Kansas & Lincoln, Nebraska | The Hydro 100 is basically a hydro version of the 966. 104 HP is correct. |

| Thanks Larry. I went and looked for the 966 and found alot of them. Is there a reason that a guy can't find any hydros? Did they not perform as well or something? Maybe a problem in the hydro? Couldn't IH get anyone to try something different? Boy, looking through those 966 sure brought back memories!! Thanks again!

Washington, Kansas & Lincoln, Nebraska | Hydros were not nearly as numerous. They performed well for light work. They were not good tillage tractors. |

North Central Kansas | Larry is right, not as many sold as the 966's. The other thing is that most of them were chore tractors and ended up getting used more on a daily basis and therefore have alot more hours on them and ended up in the boneyards. Neighbor has a Hyrdro 100 with FWA. Bought it at an auction. Not sure if he has got it running yet. They make a pretty good loader tractor. Another neighbor has a 656 Utility hydro. Last I knew it had over 12,000 hours on it. They bought it new. Had it repainted and overhauled at around 10,000 hours. I worked for them in high school. It was a pretty handy tractor. Not real big but a good utility tractor. Around here good one's don't last long on the dealers lots. |

| Originally IH sold both a 966 and a 1066 Hydro, as well as a 666. As one of the posters said, there was a big discrepancy in working drawbar horsepower compared to the gear drive tractors so they renumbered the hydros, and the Hydro 100 and Hydro 70 were born. Pretty rare and valuable tractor for PTO and hay work if it is nice though. |

| Thanks guys. I don't think we would use it for any tillage, but i can see it running a auger or something like that. In some of the pics the 966 were set up on 60 inch centers. How wide could they be set at? We are on 22 inch rows so 88 inch spacing is what we have everything else set at. Not that we are going to go out and march up and down the corn rows with the Hydro but you never know! Another question is once I find out the serial number and such, my local CaseIH dealer should be able to tell me everything I need to know as far as original paint scheme, tire size, cab or no cab, etc. right? Thanks for the help! |

| Hydro 100 is a 1066 Hydro. They did make a 1066 and 966 Hydro. The 1066 Hydro would not do what a normal 1066 would do so they renumbered it to a "lower horsepower". |

| Does the 100 have a turbo? |
Central Iowa | A Hydro 100 is not a 1066 Hydro. The 1066 has a 414 turbo, the 100 has 436 non-turbo. |

| I thought the 100 was a non turboed machine. |
Washington, Kansas & Lincoln, Nebraska | As I said earlier a 100 is a hydro version of the 966. It should have a 414 NA engine. Hydro 186 is the hydro version of a 986. These have the 436 NA engine. |

saskatchewan and Washington | I have a hydro 100. Its a really good tractor. I did have to have the transmission rebuilt, about 5000. I also have a hydro 186, both are 1976. The 100 has nicer controls, the 186 a nicer cab though smaller. I use them for haying and spraying and any pto work. Great tractors for there price. The 186 I also added a turbo and air ride front suspension for highspeed baling and spraying. The 100 is the front end loader tractor. mark |

Mind sharing any details about your front suspension? |

| Thanks for all the replys guys! I will be going up to grandmas hopefully within a week or two and I will look the Hydro 100 over when I get there. Another question I have is: What are these hydro's worth? Not that I am looking to get rich on tractor restoration but it would be nice to know what I am dealing with. Thanks for all the information, and keep it coming if you have more!! |

saskatchewan and Washington | Tiny, if it was a ggod one I would think it could be worth 10000. Jacob. I made the suspension myself using semi truck suspension stuff, air ride. It was quite easy and works very well. I'd post a picture if I new how. If there was any interest I might attempt it. mark |
