Subject: How many bushels in soybean tote bag?

southeastern ohio

Sorry for the dumb question, but I have a lady wanting me to ship some totes of oats. I don't know how much they will hold. Trying to figure the weight and shipping. I think the freight will be the deal breaker, we see.

Thanks

Tim

the tag on the tote will give the dimensions of the tote

the totes i use for oats are 36.5" x 36.5" x 51"..........comes to 38.5 cubic feet or 31 bushels...a bushel is about 1.24 cubic feet

based on bushel weight of oats i get between 1000 lbs and 1400 lbs per tote , if full to the top. soys at 60 lb/bu will take that to 1860 easily.

hope this helps

Obviously bag size is important. We use bags that will hold 2000 lbs of wheat or beans-and most major companies have the same size bags.
When the mini's first came out most of the early ones would hold 3000.
Farmer Tom had a good example.
Companies that use plastic prills in manufacturing have some different size-larger-bags that their product is shipped in.

I guess what I was thinking was the totes used for soybean seed. I have a neighbor that sells seed and I know he has some extra sitting around. I tought they might be like 4x4 in size. Ive read on here about bean totes weighting 2500# just wasn't sure cubic size. I need to go look at what he has.

Thanks for the info it does help allot.
