Callao, Missouri | I need a spreadsheet that allows me to put in the prices of dap, map, potash, urea, ams, and sulfur products, as well as how much n-p-k-s-z per acre I need. The spreadsheet needs to figure out how many $, lbs/acre, and total pounds of each. Also needs to solve for the least cost ingredients. I am getting tired of messing this up by hand. Anyone have something like this?

Central MN | http://www.creativeformulationconcepts.com/product4.php It formulates to "least cost".

SW Ohio | never thought about it but would nutritional least cost feed program work? You could input all your raw ingredients and set your requirements and make a "ration" for the soil.... I used to use Spartan(think Michigan) and Rationcalc, bet you could find a free one on the net. The math is already figured out, linear programming.

Aberdeen MS | I've got one I made up myself. Doesn't have S of Zn, but all you have to do is enter the tonnage price of NH3, 28%, urea, DAP, 0-0-60, and 10 -34-0. In the next section, put in what you want for analysis and all combinations will give you the price for the blend. Next section gives you what is needed for amounts. Add the acres for the crop the crop will give you total amounts needed and the total price per your analysis. It will also give you the cost per unit of nutrient off the tonnage price. Will also compute savings to compare if doing banding, your % of cut and give you total dollars saved using the analysis you entered before on a broadcast program. It will NOT correlate to any soil test numbers, removal rates, or making a recommendation of any sort. It is only used after that has been determined. Email is in profile.

Callao Missouri | Mr. Monson has a program like this you might be able to find on Ag EBB. I remember looking at it. There is also a solver function in excell if you wanted to build your own. I built mine but I have not put the solver in it, yet, I may now that you have given me the idea. Jon

Marysville/Sunbury, Ohio | I guess I had a little too much time on my hands tonight. Made up a spread sheet that will let you determine price per unit of nutrient, price per pound of bulk product, optimum product blend (price based), and total blend cost. All you need to do is enter your desired NPK, S, and Z amounts as well as the respective prices for each product (These sections are in green). Once you've made those inputs, click on cell P22, then the data tab, then solver, lastly solve. Sounds kinda clunky, but seems to work just fine. NOTE: You need the solver add in for excel for the spread sheet to work. If you don't have it, you can download it for free from microsoft. East Prairie, MO | I built a pretty good one I can email you, I'm kindof a spreadsheet junky, it's headed your way and if you have excel you can try it. May be lacking a couple of features you want but beats the heck out of doing all the figures longhand. Has a Dry tab and Liquid tab at the bottom and on the Dry page will give you a complete fert program total cost per acre.

East Prairie, MO | Sent some to those who requested, heck, now I'm nervous about what people may think! Keep in mind it was free LOL! Those prices that are in there were mostly quoted to me today so you can also get an idea what fertilizer costs down here since I didn't even clear it out before I sent it.

WCOH | I got it from you. Thanks I am certain it is worth more than you charged! Not run numbers yet. Did notice your prices seem high, in comparrison to our area.

Callao, Missouri | Hey thanks When I opened it, it said that some parts had to be reconstructed...or something like that. I wonder if that is because I don't have the solver downloaded yet? I'll work more on it tommorrow. Should this type of thing go onto AgTalk+?

Callao, Missouri | I thought of that too. I was hoping there would be something really simple that I could just use. The link to the noble foundation is usefull, but doesn't know what to do with itself if you don't put in a urea value and you can't figure out which blend is the cheapest. But it's excellent for getting a general idea.

Marysville/Sunbury, Ohio | It says the same thing when I open it as well, but appears to function as it should. I'll try to clean it up a little bit more and put it on AgTalk+ (Wiki?). Alex

Marysville/Sunbury, Ohio | I did some looking around, the error message that comes up when the spread sheet is opened is fairly common for Excel 2007, and there doens't appear to be a cure all fix for it. That said, all the programming appears to work fine. I've taken some of the extra clutter out of the spreadsheet and reattached it to my first post. EDIT: Formula error also fixed. EDIT2: Created a blog and wiki entry on AgTalk+ where the spreadsheet can be found with instructions for use. I have it saved there in compatibility mode, which appears to have fixed the initial error message problem? Alex Edited by CentOH Hay 1/12/2010 10:34

Marysville/Sunbury, Ohio | Required 1 last change; had to change constraints to allow a demand of zero (eg. only wanting to spread P&K).
