| Are these the same size machines with the 23 being a newer model? How about the 66 series and even the newer case models? Thanks. |
|
|
|

| Yes, the 88's are all "same" size machines.
1480,1680,1688,2188,2388,2588. Equivalent machine to a 2388 now is probably the 6088.
Now, through the progression, the capacities have increased considerably. A 2366 is roughly equivalent to a 1680 in capacity. |

 Ohio | Sorry, I couldn't resist.
YES, your thinking is correct.
2188 and 2388 and 2588 are same combine just new and improved models over the years. The 60 and 66 series are the same way, but a size smaller than 80 series. The new 5088, 6088 and 7088 are similar in size to the 2588 series with new aerodynamic styling applied ( looks great ) I think Hoobers.com has a history of the great rotary evolution.

Somerville, Indiana | There are as many differences between 2388s as there are between 2188 and 2388...A 2366 will never outdo a 1680 w long shoe...ever...both in same condition of course...That is where many differences occur, we tend to compare a new combine with a well worn combine=not a fair comparison. |

Southeast North Dakota | Not quite equivalent in capacity, the 1680 has the large rotor where the 2366 has the small rotor, the 1680 has larger sieves, elevators, feederhouse, etc., etc. Even though the 1680 is older it's still a bigger combine. |

Southeast North Dakota | The 2188 and 2388 are almost the same combine except for engine specs, rotary screens, and a few other small details. The 2188 is 260 HP where the 2388 is 280 HP. The rotary screen is a smaller silver unit on the 2188 which was used on all the older 80 size machines. The 2388 has always had a larger black rotary screen and in 2003 they went to the large "side screen" unit. The 2388 also had a hydraulic feeder reverser where the 2188 had the older "GM starter" style. Other than those differences I don't think there was a lot of difference between the two. |

| It's been a while since I looked, but a 2366 will have about the same seive area as a 1680 short sieve, I believe. They are also more HP stock. The increased HP and the small diameter rotor make them a pretty mean combine. I know that running side by side a pretty juiced up 1480(ours) and a pretty stock 2366 (neighbors) are a pretty good match cutting beans with 25 foot heads. 2366 has to run extensions to equal the stock bin capacity on the 14-1680 though. |

Southeast North Dakota | A short sieve 1680 with the IH engine perhaps. I was talking about a long sieve 1680 with the Cummins engine. I've seen a 2366 up against a 1680 Cummins/long sieve in 180+ bushel corn and the 1680's sieve and elevator had flat-out more capacity. |

| You are correct, flat out in good corn the 1680 has the edge. In Beans, it's pretty much an even match. |
