central Iowa | We have an '07 9660 STS and the feed accelerator belt has gone bad for the second time in less than 480 total seperator hours. First belt went bad at around 300 hrs. and was warrantied last year cause it was only a year old machine. Dealer will not give us a new belt cause it is out of warranty. This is gonna get kind of expensive if we have to keep replacing it every 180 hours. Anyone else having problems with JD belts? |

West Central IL | The only time I have had one go on me is when I didn't get it on the pulleys right,it looked like it was on right but when I actually stuck my head in the hole and looked closer it was off a groove. If it's not that you must have something out of alignment and I would think they would want to look into that. |

| Went through 11 belts in 07 for accellerator. 2 combines with a total of 250 hours per machine. had terrible conditions for canola and oats. Replaced 2 belts on one machine in the same day. Smoke them right off when we plug the accelerator. None were on warranty and both combines were new. Running 9770 now and replaced one last year and so far none this year and over 3/4 done.
Crop conditions, feederhouse speed, horsepower seem to make a difference on them. |

SW Manitoba. | burning off feed accelerator belts on both 60 series and 70 series machines is very common. Hate to say it, but you will have to get used to it. I think the 2009 and for sure the 2010 now use a triple groove belt. |

Earlton Ontario | I burn that many belts after lunch...........but of course I farm in Canada eh! |

| We have been running 60 series new every year since 05 and now 70 series, have a 08 and 09 on the farm, dad just smoke one on the 09 the other day, I stock them. Generally if you plug the feeder house you will have already pluged the the feed accel. Get used to it. It is better than smoking the rotor belt or cylinder belt like we used to do before when we running walker machines. Just a way of life with what we combine, tough green wheat. Only one so far this season so it has been a good year. We actually have a 1 inch drive socket set with a 3 1/2 socket that we use to unplug it. |

| Also there is an unplugging wrench for the accelerator of a JD combine. But you have to buy it at New Holland as it is the same one. Need about a 5 foot snipe but it's the same 3 1/2 inch socket |

| I have had much trouble with accelerator belts on a 9760. I ended up putting in a Kuchar accelerator in before bean harvest. It is amazing how much smoother the flow is in the combine now.
I guess I got tired of unplugging the machine while the other machine in the field was still going. I have been through conditions that the 9760 would not have gone through without the changeover. |

NW Washington | Here is another aftermarket progressive FAST beater that advertised no burned belt too. http://www.pfparts.com/sts.html |

southeast Pa | One concern I would have with an aftermarket FAST beater is its ability to knock out the stones. They look like they would certainly feed better in tough crops though. just my $.02 |
