Subject: Error Code on MF 6480, What does it mean?

Massachusetts
I was running my potato harvester today, when the little digital display on the dashboard of my 6480 showed what I guess is an error code. "Er t218." It showed this where the display normally shows direction of travel, gear range, and speed. I don't think I have ever seen it do that before. Anyways, I shut the tractor down, restarted it, and the code was gone. It was back in a minute or two, as I finished for the day. I don't know anything about it, if it is important or not, or anything. Of course it had to happen right after the dealer closed for the day. I thought I might get an answer from the Agco help line, but they only refered me back to my (closed) dealer. Great help line.

Can anyone shed any light on this? I need to use the tractor tomorrow, hopefully before the dealer opens up.

Thanks.

I believe that error 218 is a "short circuit to + 12V on bottom of clutch pedal switch". The error code is a level three which has the lowest priority and the transmission function should remain normal. You can remove the error code from the display be pressing the display change button.

Dealer said the same thing as you. How did you know, do you have a list of those codes? That would seem like a handy thing to have.

I am a Massey dealer. You could get a list of the codes by ordering a service manual or seeing if your local dealer would print off a few of the pages. If you let me know the serial number, transmission type, front axle suspension yes/no, I could send you a list of the codes.
