West-Central IL | A public service announcement for those that have this issue I have a Noco gbx155 that had been pulled down too low and refused to take a charge. First things first, try the 12volt adapter in a vehicle to charge, this sometimes works better as the USB port is limited to the amps it can carry. That was not working for me this time. Through you tube I found someone who had tried this trick. I purchased a usb-a to alligator clip adapter for $6 on Amazon Put the USB into the output port on the gbx. Using a small trickle charger attach only the ground to the USB adapter. Attach the positive lead from charger to positive battery clamp on the gbx. At this point using a multimeter you can test the voltage of the internal battery. Mine was below 8 volts. Turn on the trickle charger. The multimeter showed a slow uptick in voltage over the next 10 minutes. Use a very slow rate of charge (1 amp in this case) and do not leave it unattended. Once the internal battery on the gbx reached about 10 volts I started to get light or activity if I pressed a button on the gbx (previously no response). At 12 volts I placed it on the car charger and it began to take a charge for the first time in a month! This morning full charge and ready to use The gbx is now showing about 16.5 volts with the multimeter, again using the usb-a adapter to complete the ground circuit. Give it a try, hope it works for you. Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | This seems consistent with a problem I have from time to time. If I have a battery that is really discharged, my "smart" chargers will indicate that the battery has failed. I check the voltage with a meter. I take an old fashioned "dumb" charger and put it on the battery for a while at a low setting, I leave it on low and come back after a while, disconnect the charger and test the voltage. If the voltage has come up some, I then try the smart charger again. Often the smart charger then thinks that the battery is OK and proceeds to charge it. If the battery has in fact failed then this approach doesn't work and its time for a replacement battery. I believe you may be doing the same thing by using the 1 AMP NoCo to bring the other NoCo up in charge a bit and then it can be recharged normally. I believe it is important to use a low setting or your 1 AMP NoCo when trying this trick. Don't get in a hurry and try to rush things by using a larger charger.

central sask | I bought a couple GBX155 BoostX when they first came out. One didnt get opened/used for a year or more after I got them. I hooked up the USB charger after one use and it wouldnt take a charge, car adapter didnt work either. I will have to try your trick. The GB 150 is a far better unit than the GBX155 are!!!!!

I stayed and kept checking with the multimeter, took less than 10 minutes to then be able to charge with the vehicle adapter.

What setting was your Nico Genius 1 at? Have everything set up the same way but can’t seem to get the battery pack to charge, using a GB70

West-Central IL | Make sure usb is in the USB out only port? It is used for the ground lead from the charger. The positive lead from the USB adapter is not used. The 1 amp charger was just on the regular 12 volt battery setting.

Yea, got the exact setup, even tried it with a more “dumb” battery charger, no luck. Sounds like my 2 year old GB70 is toast. Wish their warranty lasted more than a year, especially since this issue is well documented with other users
