Didn't want to hijack the post below. Do these things actually work?

I have used one for over a month so far with a garden hose coming out of a frost free hydrant and hooking the freeze miser to a y splitter that it shares with a float valve. Have not had to touch a thing at all. Before this I was using a air tank to blow lines out everyday and manually filling the tank. Wish I would have known about them years ago would have saved tons of time and money.

Agree it works better than advertised. I probably have close to 100’ hose with a y and freeze miser. It has worked awesome. Not sure what to do the next couple of days with wind chills -30.

I have used one for a couple of years. They do keep a hose from freezing in Southern Indiana. My only complaint is the threads are poor quality. My best solution is to get a fitting and cement that to the freeze miser. Then the fittings threads are stronger and can be taken on and off as needed.

Year three with them in NW Indiana. Work great. Put an over flow on tank with a hose hooked to it to get extra water away from tank area. And store them in your freezer in the off season

They work incredibly well. I have one at each one of my floats on a splitter. I have used them for years.

They'll last forever with a little maintenance. I take them off each year and soak them in CLR overnight in the refrigerator, which allows them to open up at cooler temperatures. It cleans all of the crud out of them and keeps them flowing.

I just received mine in the mail and haven't it hooked up yet. We are looking at below freezing temps for about 10 days straight. I have a plastic float on the water tank I'll be using. I was concerned about the freezing of the float and the float side of the Y (opposite of the freeze miser). Wasn't sure if there was potential for them to freeze and crack on that side.

How did you connect a hose to the Freeze Miser?

Use a y splitter. One end of the y goes to a float valve other end goes to the freeze miser. Freeze mizer nozzle has to be facing down or sideways.

What is CLR?  I have 2 that worked well last winter but now they are stuck open and won't shut off. Currently have them soaking in pan of water in kitchen. Anyone have an idea how to get them to close down?

I have the exact same issue. Used one all last winter and used a new one just the other day and now it’s stuck open after just one use.

I have 2 on tank floats. They are on their 2nd year and working fine. I did put them in the freezer overnight last spring and then cleaned with vinegar to remove any scale, then stored them in the freezer in a zip lock bag for the summer. When you first put them on after being stored in the freezer, you will swear they are stuck open. Takes a few minutes of water running through them to thaw the wax that is inside and let the valve close.
