Has anyone done a good comparison between a Deere 8RX and a Case Magnum Rowtrac? A Deere RX is about $100,00 more than the Case. Can't believe having tracks all the way around vs the half-track like the Case makes that much of a difference.

The autosteer alone is worth it.

Is the auto steer in deere only in certian areas? Or we had the potato guys working some of our dirt this yr new 2023 8rs and rxs. And they couldnt plant cause auto steer would not steer strait. Our old cases with trimble 262 receivers were steering perfect with only waas . They were threatining rip it out put trimble in so they can plant spuds. They had so much issues. They were very vocal that its crap! On here it seems deere stuff is only way. Wonder is it in different areas?

Not much of a comparison. The RX is way more tractor than the red one. I have spent quite a bit of time in both and the RX simply does everything better.

You might be on to something. They cant work this bad everywhere or they wouldn't sell them. We have red combines which we love but the Trimble autosteer has caused us many times to consider changing to green combines. We can't combine back and forth with 262 on waas with 40' head and swath width set at 38'. At times you have 4' of header not being used then 15 min later its missing 6" of beans. It's crazy a guy has to buy 1000$ xp subscription to combine. We have a deere steering on sf1 (free signal) that set at 39' swath width running the same 40' macdon and it never misses crop.I demoed a sprayer with Trimble rtk and that thing would not stay in the rows. I have a neighbor that demoed a deere tractor and couldn't believe how nice the deere steering was and has since switched all planting tractors and sprayers to deere mainly for the gps. Here there is no comparison!

Just strikes me odd i plant corn 30 rows on a 252, pro700 and a nav 2. Waas its all with in 4inches! We dont run any subscriptions. But having said that. Since 135went south sprayer bin doing funny things just doing burn down!!
Air drill is run on 372 and nav 3. Over nite might get a 12inch jump u need to nudge. 8120 with a 600 we run it at 39ft . Seems work perfect. Wonder if it where u happen to be situated in the satelite formation?

If it was my money I'd take the 100k and enjoy the rowtrac. I'm a bit biased as I've never run an 8rx but I've owned a rowtrac for 5 years and love it. I've never had any reason to complain about the trimble fm1000 nav in it either.

Maybe I just don't know what I'm missing!

There you go. Stop on by today and you can run a red and green tractor in the same field and it won't take but one round in each to see the difference.

Spend 10K (3200 for a bridge and rest for monitor, globe) and have a deere autosteer system in the red one.

Out here neither are super popular. However even the most avid jd guys have red Steiger rowtracs. Out here they are cheaper than the 8rx. My good friend tried a 340 half trac and they were disappointed but they were comparing it to a stx450 quadtrac. He really just wanted a Deere as he is probably one of the most avid Deere guys I know, even has a Deere gun safe. They ended up with a 9520rx. He did admit that it’s been a lot more trouble than the case ever was but does love that auto steer

.

Tenacco and ihc never thought it was an advantage to have closed center hydraulics or planetary final drives or a full powershift transmission or a command arm in the cab either until they decided to do it. Deere never thought it important to nla parts until they saw Fiat doing it and still people wear a faded pink g string so why not ?

Never ran either so no real opinion, but could you imagine how annoying it'd be to get a flat tire on your tracked tractor?
