| Anyone have a cub cadet zero turn tractor? At full turn the propel of each drive wheel is adjusted to produce a zero turning radius. The ability to zero turn a tractor has appeal to me over the other style zero turn mowers. I'm curious if anyone has one and what +/- experiences they've had. Thanks in advance for the feedback. |

| I do not have one, but we have sold a few. Everybody that has them have liked them and have had no problems. The only thing I have noticed is that when you let the parking brake off you have to let it snap back or it won't unlock both rear wheels. Not a big deal just a loud snapping noise. Plenty of power and actually bags grass good. |

Statesville, NC | We have sold some too. They are outstanding on hills, will go where other mowers will not go. It has two transmissions and synchronizes each wheel's speed with the turn angle. Steering takes a little more effort than some. Not bad if you keep the front end greased and enough tire pressure. We cured the brake problem by hooking the brake return spring at a different location. |

Southeast Washington | I bought one last year and have had no problems with it yet. We do have some steep hills to mow so I didn't care for a zero steer. Being able to hold the front end on the hills and the seperate motors for the wheels on the back makes the mower very stable on the hills and one tire doesn't spin out like a standard mower when not enough weight is on uphill side. Never really have to worry about stopping to back up with the turning system. My wife likes it very much. |

| Ya know, we got an RZT 44 last fall, the smallest of the "commercial" zero turns. I think, my wife would probably have preferred the zero turn tractor, thinking about it now. I am fine with it, and our two older boys do fine, but she still struggles with it some after having it for a year. |

SW Minnesota | We have a Cub Cadet M-60 Commercial 0-turn. After 5 year my wife still loves to mow everything. Lot's of slopes along the lane and the hog barns. |

Kentucky | Got a RZT 42, the smallest one they make. Wish I had a bigger size, but $ was a strong concern. Nonetheless, it replaced a regular riding mower with the same witdh deck - I finish in 1/4 to 1/3 and nearly 1/2 less time. One of the three yards I mow is one big triangle. The RZT cuts mowing time nearly in half since there's so much less turning to get lined back up. The zero turn is the thing to have when having to mow around a bunch of stuff also.
When ever I replace the RZT, I will NOT go back to a regular riding mower.
It does have the going in reverse mower deck cut out switch. I thought about overriding it, but I've left it in place. When you get to flying around the yard mowing and pull it into reverse...I can see the safety aspect of it. Both levers have to be pulled into reverse to cut off the deck blades. Usually, I can ease back with one side, then the other to get backed into a spot and mow it.
Speaking of flying around the yard, with a smooth yard, you can go as fast as the levers will push ahead and mow fine.
Now the RZT 42 is not any where near a commercial grade, I think the mowing deck is the same as a Yard Machine, MTD and others, just on a zero turn drive system.
I 've had it since the summer of 2006, running fine. Replaced one spindle, deck belt, and a set of blades. Still has the original battery-it won't make it through this coming winter though.

Genoa, Illinois | Now that cub cadet is built by MTD you couldnt pay me to own one. jmo. |

West Central, IL | I don't know if that is the best statement. All I can say it you get what you pay for. The John Deere lawn tractor the same size as a Cub Cadet lawn tractor both sold at a box store for about the same price will last the same amount of time. I bought a new Cub Cadet 1 1/2 years ago. I used it to mow commercially and have put over 200 hours on it. The weakest point on the mower was the Kohler engine witch I had to get a new block put in because of a factory flaw and I didn't have to pay for that. I think for the money you can't beat it, I know that it is still worth over $1,000 dollars and I don' have $2,000 in it. It has worked out very well for my needs. I will be buying another "crappy MTD" mower next spring to help with some new lawns I got for my mowing business. |

Statesville, NC | MTD purchased Cub Cadet from IH when they needed some money in 1981, and have been building them since then. So the "good old" 682's and 782's, and 1210's and 1811's were built by MTD, even the red ones. MTD has owned Cub Cadet for 28 years, and it was an IH product for 20 years. They still make a good machine, you just can't compare a $2499 mower to a $7000 mower. The RZT series is not a commercial machine, but you would have a hard time finding a better zero turn machine for the money. |
