Hey Guys, We have a Field Pro 3 sprayer and we use a Raven 450 Controller for it. We currently have it on one of our 2375 Versatiles to top dress winter wheat but in summer I would like to put it on our John Deere 4450 or 4430 if I decide to plant a row crop. The John Deere Tractors have two 6 Volt batteries and when we put the Raven Controller on one of these tractors we have to run one wire to the right side battery and the other wire to left side battery. I was just curious if any of you guys know a solution to wire something up inside the cab of the tractor to hook these two wires up and not have to try and push the wires in between the engine and cab to be able to hook it up? The pictures I will post below is how it is currently wired up in our 2375 Versatile. Thank you, JD105404T Edited by JD105404T 2/5/2023 19:00 (20230205_164600 (full).jpg) (20230205_164552 (full).jpg) (20230205_164550 (full).jpg) Attachments ---------------- 20230205_164600 (full).jpg (160KB - 127 downloads) 20230205_164552 (full).jpg (145KB - 128 downloads) 20230205_164550 (full).jpg (153KB - 128 downloads)

Swaledale, IA | Just bring the wires up from the batteries with a plug on the end. Remember to stick a fuse in it. Or check do you have an empty spot on the fuse panel.

Blue Grass (Eastern IA) | Run the + wire the the + post on the starter. - wire to ground.

CND | On the John Deere you can get 12v at the left battery and then ground to pretty much anywhere. Get a power strip from Deere and wire that in.

Central ND | Why not just get your power off the starter? Or left hand battery?

Jackson County, AL | On our 4230 we eliminated the right hand battery and just run one 12v. Cranks it great and only one cheaper battery to maintain. Ours is an open station that just runs an auger so no electronics to worry with. If I were you I'd probably put two 12v on and redo the cables to make it work, then put a simple plug in the cab on both tractors so it's quick and easy.

West Central MN | The 4450 has a power outlet at the back of the right hand console. I don't remember the name of the plug. Maybe someone else can help with that.

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Your 4450 runs on 12V. Running directly to the battery is generally recommended with a Raven 450 but this is mainly to obtain enough high current power for the section valves. The 450 itself doesn't usually require much power. With that being said I would still recommend going straight to the starter terminal or the "+" terminal of the left battery. Ground for the Raven can be picked up from the "-" of the right battery as you have done or from several other places. There is a large bolt on the right side that can be used but most any other good ground will suffice. Many Deere tractors of that age used 2-6 Volt batteries wired in series to produce 12V for the starter and other accessories. If your tractor has 2-6 volt batteries (3 battery caps each) then you will NOT be able to use the "-" terminal of the left battery for the ground for the Raven. You would be able to use the "-" terminal of the right battery which is attached to the frame. If your tractor has 2-12 batteries (6 caps each) then the batteries are wired in parallel and you COULD use either "-" battery terminal or the frame for the ground for the Raven.

Nc Ks. | On my 4450 and 7710 I ran hot wire from starter, ground wire from frame into the cabs. Then I put a 110 volt female plug on each and 110 volt male on the 450. Then I can just unplug and move from one tractor to the other.

I have a 4440 with 2 6volt batteries. I always go to the fuse panel under dash covering to get a 12 volt connection.

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I've seen the idea of using 110VAC plugs for DC connections for situations like this. I strongly oppose this since some person unknowing might plug in a "real" 110VAC source or device. But to each their own. I prefer using Weather Pack connectors with a consistent wiring pattern (Pin A-12 Volts, Pin B-Ground) and wire color Red-Constant 12V, Orange-Switched 12V and Black - Ground. These connectors are readily available, cheap and dependable. I use these even with my tractors that came with Deere's Power Strip. I attach some Weather Pak leads to the nice terminals on the back. Then I don't need to purchase the expensive Deere plugs unless I want to.
