west central mo | May be a machinery question. Thinking about these. I may just run one with a regular rubber closing wheel? Maybe do both just kind of pricy. Are they worth it? Emergence faster and better?

WCIN | One of the cheapest upgrades I’ve made to my planter. Wouldn’t run without em.

West Kentucky | We have run copperhead ag and yetter twisters. Both are great and are a huge improvement in almost all notill conditions over solid rubber. Our biggest problem was how fast the poly wore in our conditions, so we now have cast twisters and really like how they performed and held up after one year. I would definitely run two of either of them vs 1 and a solid rubber. Edited by flatlick farmer 12/18/2022 13:59

Callao Missouri | I put on the kinze copy cats. In not 100% convinced I think id almost be happier with one spike, and one rubber. They can dig beans out when planting shallow and in powder. Side by side double crop wheat beans this year one planter with both rubbers, and mine with two spikes, the other planter had a better stand. But no rain after planting. I think the spikes worked the hard crust enough to dry it out. The rubber wheel planter had just enough moisture left behind to get everything going.

South Central NE | This is what I was told. I am going high speed and they said one spiked one rubber is what most users ended up with.

Have you compared Yetter twisters to Martin spike closing wheels? I have used Martin wheels for years in notil corn. Just purchased a Kinze for notil soybeans that has both plastic closing and am going to update the closing wheels to something ??

West central WI | Hope so! Just bought 16 rows of them! Pretty consistent data year after year of them giving a yield bump.

Freedom, WI | They show the highest return in the Becks PFR book. Been running Schaffert Mohawks for 2 seasons, mostly conventional till, some notill. No way I would go back to a set of rubber wheels

Work great in notill corn and soybeans. Make sure to space them out further in notill than in tillage

NW Ohio | I just bought the outside rings because of shortages 2 years ago. Definitely took a lot longer than I thought to split the old ones apart. I’m not sure if there is a special tool but the quickest thing I was able to do was jam a small wooden wedge from opposite sides driving them towards each other.

west central mo | Ball ping hammer in the bearing and hit with 3 pound hammer usually come right apart. Have to set on a ledge so one side can drive off.

indiana | If you don't plant very deep 2 twisters might be too much. I have no experience with then high speed planters but they might not work well either with 2 twisters.

West-Central Missouri | We put a poly twister on one side of one row to try them. I was a bit skeptical as i had run spike tooth closing wheels in the past and noticed no difference. Here is the difference at emergence. I would not have believed it without seeing it. I do think most of the rest came up in the other rows without poly twisters, but emerged later. So i know we got more uniform emergence. west central mo | I ordered a set for my corn rows. I'll run 2 on them. I may steal one off for beans and run one spiked one rubber in them.

West Ky | I have both the poly Copperhead furrow cruisers and the Yetter twisters on my Kinze 16/31 and the only noticeable difference I have found is that when planting green into standing rye the Yetter twisters wrap up while the furrow cruisers don't at all. Haven't seen a noticeable difference as far as emergence.

NE OK | I've run martin, thompson, copperhead furrow cruisers and yetter twisters... At this point I like the twisters the best. I'd do both. They're kind of pricy, you're right.. but it's money well spent imho.

Brown county MN | We're considering a trial run with some spiked wheels too, most likely the yetters, mainly on the corn planter, it's a 12r 7000, and in conventional tillage, but with our dirt, and frequently cold springs, soil conditions are not always ideal. Figured we'd give 3 outside rows a try and see how it works.

NE KS | set assembled wheel on top of a 5 gal bucket. Usually matches up with the rubber tire. Hit with ball peen for quick disassembly.
