north west arkansas | Looking at the Great Plains VT turbo tills and I see some have two rows of coulters and some have a single row and instead of second row have a rolling chopper like a do all. What style does the best job?

East central indiana | I have. A turbo chopper. Straight blades and a chopping reel it does more than 2 straight gangs but not as much as if you angle both gangs like a turbo max. The chopper I have used to finish ripped ground. It’s not perfect level but it does bust clods and leave a great seed bed. |

North Central Iowa | I have used both and have a turbochopper. Like what it does to corn stubble, but the ground has to be reasonably dry. That back gang of a rolling chopper will plug up something fierce if driven through mud, at least in my soils. Have spent many hours digging it out with a spade until a got a little smarter. A turbo till won’t have nearly the problem with mud.
So I use the turbochopper on my lighter, sandier ground only. Or on a well tiled field if dry enough. |
