In the sake of killing time while I am at the Chevy dealership getting a door lock fixed, what do you spray with?

I have a 1000 gallon, 60 foot boom sprayer that have been pulling with my Turboed 856 that has an ice cream box cab on with this year. Tractor handels the sprayer really well. What I don't like is the dust in the cab with me. By the time I get a few acres sprayed my eyes are full of dust and it irritates my contacts. I have pulled the same sprayer with my 7710 Ford (just not as fast) and my 7810 JD. The 7810 handeled it the best but that is either on the planter or 28% tool bar at the same time spraying needs to be done. If money was no object a 7330 with an IVT would look like the hot ticket. Or a 4420 Patriot. What do you spray with?

We use a CaseIH 5240 Hi-Clearance MFD with a mounted Hardi Mega 350 with 60' boom. It works pretty well. The 5240 has narrow tires, and I really like the shuttle reverse. Not saying it's the best, but it works for us.

I'd like to see that.  It's about what I was looking to do back before we stumbled upon the Fastrac with the mounted sprayer on it.

I've seen a lot of "mudders" with high clearance set up for spraying, but I'm really happy with my current ride and don't need the high clearance.

JD7520 with:
ILS, hydraulic cab suspension, IVT, 14.9/R46 rear with 14.9/R34 front, MFWD, active seat, autotrac ready which I run with EZ-500 and Trimble autopilot.

Makes for a smooth ride. A neighbor found the tractor with very low hours (250) for a 3 year old tractor and priced right. It was the wrong size for him, but suited me great. Not sure if this is the "best", but has been for me. It would be comparable to the 7330 with IVT you mentioned. I pull a 1200 g Hardi with 90' boom. Loaded with 28% in hills is still no problem.

JD 7800 with a 4500 litre Hardi Commander, 90' boom. Something with a better ride would be nice, but it has enough power, gears and weight to handle the hills and it's a big step up from the previous sprayer tractor, a Massey 3120.

after after years of farming with a ih 966, i would think almost any modern tractor would be better than a 856. sounds like you have a nice sprayer, so why suffer with a poor cab tractor. i like my rig for the acres i have. it's a white 2-110 and a demco 500 gal sprayer. 45ft boom and a mt3000 controler. i have a raven cruizer and am very happy with my setup.

It made a Crop

Not the best ticket but it works. "Here"  I could run 8.0 + with it, but the Boom wouldn't take that.  The Select-0-Speed still works great on this 5000.  Putting the  7.5x20's on the front helps with the ride.

I'm thinking for next year. I'll get better booms and make up a set of saddle tanks or put the old 300 gallon 3 point tank on the back And I can run the rears out to 90" centers with the row crop rims.

If it were not for the open station and drift in the face Front mount Boom would be nice with the 300 gallon tank on the back.  If I can fit it with a heavier front axle the 300 gallon tank could be mounted out front.

I have a really nice 4430 that has been upgraded with all the latest 'goodies', air ride, new step, mirrors, lights etc. I love this tractor on the sprayer. I pull a 1100gallon hardi with 90 foot boom with JD autoswath and rtk with an ATU. Only thing I wish it had was a 25mph gear, but I farm close so it really does not matter.

I don't have a pic of the tractor and sprayer, but I'll get one next chance I get. We farm on raised beds here, so a pull type sprayer wont work for us. Too hard to get turned around on the ends. We've got a 250 gallon tank on the front that we can plumb in to the Hardi to increase the load we can carry.

You must have some level land with no hills to pull that much weight behind an 856. I'm pulling 800 gallons and 60 feet with my 2090 Case and wouldn't want any less weight or power up front. In fact when fields are really wet I switch over to the 7130 magnum with FWD to be sure I get through the low spots. I have a permanent extra control box set up in it just for that reason.
Also I"d advise anybody to get themselves a good charcoal filter for the cab when spraying. I have one in both tractors and they make a world of difference keeping the smell of chemicals out of the cab. Even if the smell doesn't bother you, the long term health effects of breathing that stuff are a good reason to keep it out of the cab.

I ran a Fendt 818 on a Hardi 1850 gal Commander plus. It was absolutely awesome. The tractor had TMS on it . It is like having a hydro transmission without the power loss. On the road it cruised at 33 mph with the engine running at 1750 rpm. I sold the sprayer and have an Apache SP now but I still miss the Fendt. I only do spraying so I couldn't afford to keep it.

Challenger 575B with CVT set out to 120". Sprayer is a Fast 9500 with 1800 gal and 120' booms, Norac height control and Trimble 500 with autoboom (8 sections+fencerow nozzles). (Yes I know my hoses are hanging down...sparyer has an retracting hitch when in field and I hadn't straped the hoses up yet...pic was taken first time I took to field and unfloded booms.) I love this setup. Had a JD 6420 set out to 90" with a Hardi Navigator 80' before...thought that was nice, and it got the job done. I was always a JD guy, but I honestly don't think theres a better spraying tractor than the Agco (Challenger, Massey or Agco) with CVT.

That is one beautiful tractor!

I especially like that the air intake is under the hood, that makes visibility for planting great.

We spray with an old 2-105 White and a 600 gal Demco tandem with 50' booms.
Works good but a RT155a in front of a 1200 gal big single with an 80' boom would be great.

Really, I was thinking about "upgradeing" to one of those. I have a set of Murphy switches on my 856 for pumping water, if it wasn't for pumping water I would probably sell it and get a 4430-4440-4630-4640. The IH isn't a bad tractor but isn't as nice to run as somethng that could keep me cool and the dust out. I'd hate to run a really nice tractor on a pump too. Plus the 856 does about 2.1 gallons of fuel per hour on the pump, thats better than my 4 cylinder JD stationary engines.

Whats so bad about the 4630?

My Fast sprayer puts alot of weight on the hitch. Most my ground is fairly flat but I do have some steep stuff. You just better give it the gravy before you get half way up the hill. Same tractor goes on a 450 bushel Parker grain cart in the fall.

Mark, I have a similar setup. I got a MB-trac and a Unimog with a hardy mounted sprayer. 60 ft booms on both. 600 gal tanks. getting a little small for the acres, but they work pretty well.

I was working on the breakaway today. I beefed up the skimpy hinge which had the two point too close together. The bolts kept bending or breaking wehn turning around the field. ( ridge till ). I hope these will hold up much better.

That's very similar to what I used up until this year. Case 2390 with 500 gallon saddle tanks and a FAST 90' wheel boom. This year I bought a Top Air 1100 gallon sprayer with a 90' boom and put it on a JD 4250. I planned on using a MFWD on it, but didn't get it off the planter till I was nearly done spraying. I discovered if I couldn't get through it with the 4250 it was way too wet to be out there anyway, so the MFWD wasn't as big of an advantage as I anticipated. Now I just have to find another use for the 2390 as the sprayer was about it's only job.

CAT 55, Bestway 1600 gl., 90 ft. booms. Hard to beat the ride of a tracked machine over badger holes and the like. Road speed is not very good but the gallons sort of make up for it by being able to cover multiple fields while "away" from home. I like it as well as the self-propelled's that I have run (Rogator 854, Patriot) with the exception of being harder to back into the corner in a field. Best sprayer for spraying right into corners is something with the boom on the front.

Chem fallow so just about every weed that grows on the farm. I should have known better after farming that land over 30 years but in a dry spring I can seed right through that little creek and harvest a good crop out of it. This was after a heavy rain. I wanted to keep a straight line so took a chance and ran out of traction. I think I might have made it through if I'd had the 7130 mfd up front but theres times even that one will get stuck.

Scott, your setup looks alot like mine. I am using the IH 300 today, on a Kuker 500 gal with Blumhardt booms. My replacement for that setup is in town getting skinny tires and wheels put on. I have 15" row beans, and need to get down those. My "new to me" tractor is a 6085 Agco White. The MFD, cab.a/c and decent seat is a major upgrade for me. Rated at 80 Hp, it handles the 500 gal sprayer just fine.
The upgrade to a 300 from the H was a big improvement. We also have a Fargo sprayer, that we can pull with our Super C, makes a good corn sprayer, if you can get by with 5 gal/acre rate. I am going to make that old Fargo into a boomless pasture and ditch sprayer, probably mounted on the 706, lots of projects, a man must have his dreams.

300/sprayer

to be replaced by this tractor6085 Agco White

how is it working for you? We have 1000 gallon sidequest and 90 foot fast 3 point. Thinking about going out to 88 inches on singles but not sure if the weight would be to much on 480/80/46 rears. Right now we currently running 320/90/54 with duals works good, but need bigger tires for planting.

Don't know if the tires would handle it because of the 1000 gal tanks. We run single 380 50 tires on the back and I know I overload them, but really haven't had a problem yet. You might be able to get away with it on the 480's.
