I need something small like a drill pump but self powered. I had something that had bad diesel and we were able to siphon but it was slow. My air compressor needs the fuel drained and refilled with fresh. It sat for 2 years with an electrical issue we finally got fixed. Now I need to change the sight gauge tubing on another unit. Seems to like I could use something at lest once a year. Ideas?

Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80 | I've watch a video, where a guy used to fill his off-grid generator, by lift 5 gallon jugs (to refill), for a couple years, then he tried one of these battery-powered hand pumps, and mentioned it was a "life-changer". (I don't remember the brand, he had)
Would something like this, work for your situation? https://www.amazon.com/Sierra-Tools-Battery-Operated-Liquid-Transfer/dp/B000HEBR3I (pump (full).jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Westport, IN | If you have a tank in your truck, remove the nozzle and drop the hose in the tank. Hook the motor leads backwards and the pump will suck out the hose. Edited by Rod Maker 11/13/2018 20:02

Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | There's lots of small 12v fuel pumps out there. I bought one very similar to this for a similar project, worked great for $40 https://www.amazon.com/Goplus-Electric-Kerosene-Transfer-Extractor/d...

Eastern Arkansas | To change the sight glass, take a shop vac and stick the nozzle in the fuel fill but not in he fuel. Have someone seal it off best they can with a rag. Then turn it on and replace the sight glass, it won’t spill a drop. I have done it many times to replace the crossover tube that’s on the bottom of an 8420 fuel tank.

Take a 12 volt transfer pump and stick the suction pipe into the fuel tank and pump it out. Works great. I've done it multiple times when selling or trading in equipment that had more fuel in them than i wanted to give away. Edited by Ron Mahoney 11/13/2018 22:38

Germany | just don't try this with a gasoline tank. Vapors will combust in the vac motor and turn it into a jet turbine - well, almost.

SE Nebraska, Near Misery and Cans Ass! | X2! Everybody ought to have a couple of these cheap ones laying around you can use them for so many things. And you can get some of the really cheap ones and just use them for a nasty job like paint transfer from a 50 gallon barrel to smaller containers one time and throw them away yeah it may cost you 25 or 30 bucks but it'll sure be worth it. Have you use them to transfer chemicals out of a mini bulk in a pinch when I transfer pump wouldn't run and I had nothing else I could use at the moment.
