This is a new product i found that is coming out in September. Just curious what people think of the idea. It is obviously not an ag leader or trimble but possibly a good option for smaller farmers to get into auto steer

I think they are way too late to the market. I'd feel more comfortable with a used ex-steer system for less money.

It's from Ag Junction so it's probably usable for tillage.

A few quotes from their website.

"All your farm data stored and backed up securely for each Wheelman and any future Whirl-compatible devices"

"One-year subscription to Whirl Online included including 5MB data storage and automatic upgrades to purchased features."

I personally would not be interested. Having farm data automatically uploaded to the cloud is not likely in my best interest.. Paying for that storage after the first year is of no interest to me. No upgrade path listed for this product. $3500 US for WAAS steering is not a bargain at this point.

wouldn't what to be the first to try it that's for sure. wonder what antenna comes with it and where the terrain compensation component is for. Not sure about app based, I know how many time apps crash on my tablet.

I think it is somewhat interesting but as others have said it should have been released several years ago. It also has a fairly large price tag for what you are getting. I would be interested to know if you can use another brand of GPS receiver with it. For the right price it would make a simple system without a lot of wiring.

AutoFarm / Novariant released a product called SimpleSteer that used android tablet for steering. Was released September 2013 and to my knowledge was never commercially available in the US. Since Ag Junction purchased/acquired Novariant, I'm curious if this product is somehow related to AutoFarm's tablet efforts a few years ago.

I checked it out at Farm Progress show today. Looks interesting. Use your phone or tablet to set up. After that, operator doesn't need to have phone or tablet. Looks simple. The "dashboard" easily removes. That is the brain. So upgrades in future would be easy.

With upgrade antenna(in future) will be able to upgrade from waas.
It is all new but for me sure would be affordable to put in a tillage tractor. To buy a Trimble Ez Pilot and Fm750 you will spend $8000+

$3500 for this.

Got chased away from approaching rain storm, so didn't get every detail

did they mention where the terrain compensation is done? if its all in the unit that would be hard to believe. also did you see what is used for gps? is it straight a-b only? if so or not can you/how do you manage lines. I don't understand why they don't give more details on the website. I would try it but I have a whole bunch of questions. hopefully I can find them at husker harvest days or any of the other shows coming up.

Jus didn't have time to get it all checked out.
Straight A B and contour line. The storm was coming.
The person that designed it is the one that is sitting on tractor showing install, so if someone else going he is the one to ask specifics.
I asked how long it has been since it was a finished product, he said 4 months. So it very new.
So simple to wire, one going to roof antenna, and a power source.

Looks nice, but it is not clear from their website what you are getting for the published price.
It doesn't show or mention a GPS receiver, so how is it supposed to work?
Also, I am not a fan of sales pitch like "you save $15 every acre, start saving today"
Having said that, it would be interesting to hear from users.
