Dalton, OH | Anybody install these on a new 1770nt non CCS planter yet? Getting ready to install and not very impressed by the design from Tru-Count. We have the Prodrives. So to mount the clutch, you have to drill a large hole with a hole saw through the unit frame and mount the clutch on the outside of the unit. Doesn't sound too bad until you see how close it is to the transport wheels. I can see a rock coming around the wheel and snapping off the clutch. The inside wings have rock guards, but the outside ones don't. Wonder who pays if that happens? I doubt its a warranty claim. I included a pic of how the clutch will look mounted. Any ideas out there? Thanks,

I would check into John Deere's RowCommand http://salesmanual.deere.com/sales/salesmanual/en_NA/seeding/2009/f... I personally feel in the long run they will be more reliable and easier to maintain than the tru-count clutchs just look at all the electric clutches on combines, air seeder carts and other things and how long they last. Dalton, OH | That sounds like a good idea, but I already purchased the air clutches and I've been using the Insight for my fertilizer on my planter already, now for the clutches. Don't think the JD system is compatible with the Insight. If it was I would jump now, but I don't want anything to do with JD's Greenstar precision system.

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I was at an Ag Leader Dealer meeting in Ames yesterday and the question came up about the Insight Seed Command being able to work with Deere's new Row Command electric disconnect clutches. The answer we got was "Yet to be Determined". The reason given was that Ag Leader has not been able to get their hands on any for testing. It is my understanding that new Deere planters that were ordered with their Row Command clutches are being shipped without the clutches at this time. I was told that the dealers will need to install them at their own shops later when the clutches are available. Since they are not ready for the new planters that were ordered with them, I think it would be difficult to get them for a retrofit. Maybe there are other problems associated with a retrofit that I'm not aware of.

Dalton, OH | Thanks Ted. I think I'll stick with my Tru Count clutches as I have no doubt they will work fine, just didn't like the design the had for mounting. Probably should blame that on Deere as after they dropped Tru Count they probably purposely changed their planter to no be Tru Count friendly!!! Wouldn't be the first time I saw Deere do this on something. They just love to try and monopolize things sometimes.

SCMN | I doubt you will get a rock to come around and snap one...unless you are muddin the hell out of it. If you are concerned you should put the wheel scrapers on all your planter wheels. Don't pay Deere for them, just make some yourself.

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Not sure about that, I changed my 1760 to Prodrive a couple of years ago. If I went to Tru-Count clutches I would be in the same situation of having to drill the large hole as is shown on your post.

Dalton, OH | I've only ever had a couple rocks do it, but it would be just my luck to have it happen on the nicest planting day of the year. Plan on making my own rock guards.
Thanks, Scott | ||
