Southwest Iowa | We grill 1-3 times per week, depending on the season. Usually no more than myself, wife and 3 kids, but occasionally have friends or family over. We do beef, pork and fish every now and then. Just curious what others think would be a good pellet grill/smoker under those circumstances? I like the info I’ve read on the Rec-Tec’s, but don’t feel like dropping $1K on one. I know you get what you pay for, so there might be good reason to pony up some cash to an extent. But I don’t want to over spend if I don’t have to. Thanks!

ottertail co mn | I have had a green mountain pellet grill since 2011. I would consider it a good pellet grill for the price. $650 usually on sale. I liked mine so much I became a dealer for them. Yoder and rectec are good but definitely a little more expensive. The most popular by volume, I won't name names, but I wouldn't give those away. I recommend buying a grill from someone who uses one, not just selling them. Hopefully this post helps you out a little.

NW KS | I also bought a green mountain grill about 6 months ago and I LOVE IT!. smoked a couple briskets and cook with it a couple times a week. its pretty damn simple. I also love the wifi meat probe. when I was smoking through the night i could check my temps from my phone in bed. winning! best advice I got was to throw the meat on when you fire the grill up. I got a smoke ring on my steaks the other day! it was great. lol

Walnut Grove MN USA | Started with a green mountain Dave Crockett liked that but sold to a friend and just got a Woodwind. The woodwind is more user friendly but otherwise similar to the GM.

Central Illinois | Pretty much ditto. Have a green mountain Daniel Boone and a Davy Crockett. Use the Daniel Boone 4-5 times a week. Probably not as well built as a Rec-Tec or a Yoder, but they don’t cost as much either. Company product support has been excellent as well.

NWND | Rec Tec Mini if you don't need all the room. Its big enuff for 4-5 good size steaks at once. I have also done a 14lb brisket in it. They are really good pellet grills.
