Gilmour "Flexogen"

Do NOT buy anything else...

http://gilmour.com/hoses/lawn-and-garden/garden-hose

Edit to add: I find them in various stores, Ace, Big R, etc.

Edit to add 2: I highly recommend getting the "full flow" valves too. I keep extras around, as I hate going back to standard restricted flow valves. http://gilmour.com/connects/splitters-valves

I asked this question back in 2009. I purchased 3/4" black spray hose from J.D. Skiles as I live near them. Still using that hose today and it's still as good as the day I bought it.

All you'll ever need right there. Cut to length and put garden hose ends on. Just remember to only use stainless steel clamps and it'll outlast you.

I was impressed by the gray heavy rubber hose, not plastic, with milled thick aluminum ends with spring strain protectors, not thin stamped steel or brass / brass plated steel that leak after the first drop on concrete or bend the first time stepped on.. Have used them 3 years now in the hot sun at 60 psi water pressure. A really good value for not much money IMHO .
Sold at Sams club under the safe mark ? brand for a low price

We got a real heavy one from rural King. I hate it, it is like using a piece of PVC pipe as a hose, it doesn't kink, or bend for that matter.

Subject: Update: I've a Gilmore and it has warranty so....

I went to Home Depot and they carry them and discovered Gilmore offers "lifetime warranty." Went to service desk and asked about term of the "lifetime." I got a puzzled look. So I asked if it were her lifetime or mine. Still a puzzled look.

She looked up in her computer and the HD says warranty is handled directly with Gilmore. So I went to their website and applied for warranty coverage.

I will report back on the Gilmore warranty program.

Thanks to NAT community for recommendations. Great resource.

The NAT equivalent to wearing panty hose.

I'm learning to love those that shrink and expand for washing vehicles, watering around the house, etc. Very convenient. I thought they were a rip until my wife brought one home.

Dramm ones are really nice. They don't kink and stay flexible in winter. Come in nice bright colours.

I have been getting a red hot water rated hose from my local True Value hardware store that hold up very well.

http://www.truevalue.com/product/5-8-Inch-x-50-Ft-Red-Industrial-Ho...

Seems like the package has changed since the last one I bought though, so who knows. The 50 foot true value version lists for $49.99. A quick search turns up a 25' version of the same Apex hose at Target for $18.99, so you could buy two and hook them together for that price.

I have not been impressed with any hose I got at Harbor Freight or Tractor Supply. Last time I needed a hose for the milk room on a Sunday my choices of open places withing 40 miles was Tractor Supply. My wife pointed out that a different aisle had some hose, which turned out to be Abbott sprayer hose rated to a higher temperature and pressure than most garden hose. A couple of garden hose ends for that and it has lasted nearly a year, while the one before it in that spot lasted three months.

I just bought one of their air hoses this winter and I am really impressed with it so far. I might have to try one of their garden hoses next.

I can personally vouch for gilmores warranty program. Bought a couple 50 ft hoses in 1993 from local hardware store paid close to 50 for them at the time but thought with lifetime warranty it should be worth it. I kept my receipt the cardboard cover and even the bag ties holding them together and put them in a big mailing envelop and stapled it to the garage wall so as not to loose it. Last year they both sprung a leak the metal fittings on the ends were corroding through so per warranty instructions I cut off both ends and mailed them in along with copy of receipt and within a month two new hoses showed up in the mail. Put new ends on my old hoses and now I have 4 really nice 50 ft hoses. So the moral of the story is Ya get what Ya pay for good luck

Thanks for the update. Reminds me that I have a hose nozzle or two that I ought to bug them about. Seems a shame that I have to keep putting the drippy 20 year old Gilmour nozzle back on the hose when these new ones only last six months.
