| Are Harbor Freight porta powers any good? From time to time a porta power would be handy but don't want to spend a lot (big surprise) for it to set around and collect dust. |

s.e. Pa | I have one and it's not bad. It leaks a little, and seems like the reservoir will get air locked and I have to loosen the fill screw to get things going again. It was maybe $160, and a basic enerpac set was like $2500. So for me it works.

Eastern Washington | PortaPower.... I don't think they collect dust, no matter what brand you buy. Use ours more than I ever thought we would, especially after we moved it onto the service truck and out of the shop. |

| They are worth about what they cost. One of my rams had an o-ring seal push out, used it maybe
once. |

Same problem with the one sitting around here. I think I'd use it more if the air locks weren't so frustrating! |

northeastern Ohio | I've had a Harbor Freight 10 ton for about 20 years. It has saved me many times. I added a pull back ram and a couple mini rams to complete the kit. Those mini rams are the handiest!
One connector on one of the rams has the threads boogered up. If I need to use it, I borrow a connector from another ram. I occasionally have an air lock problem too. Not bad for $100, but I see they are now $200 ($160 with 20% off coupon): http://www.harborfreight.com/10-ton-super-heavy-duty-portable-hydra...

NW KS | They are not too bad. The seals and the pump are the weakest points. As other have said the pumps can sometimes air lock and cause you some trouble. On the cheaper porta powers they also tend to use standard hydraulic seals rated for 2000-3000 pounds. The hand pumps for a porta power put out closer to 10000 depending on brand. That said if you keep them clean and don't use them a lot it will probably last you a long time. |

Caraway, AR | I've had one about 8 yrs. Use it about rthree times a year. Works alright. John |

The Green Hills of Missouri | I have had one for many years with very little use, more an insurance policy than anything.
Mine leaks like a sieve! Fill it with oil and mop out the plastic case every time you use it.
Bought a second kit of tools and rams at a later date, well none of the hydraulic couplers are the same between the two kits so you must change them to use the different rams.
Just a cheap over seas tool. |

Nwia | Ive got a 4 ton I picked up at a swap meet 6 years ago hard telling how old it is but it works like brand new best $50 I have ever spent. I could be wrong but I think most of them are all the same my buddy has a Cornwell brand and its almost identical. Sits in my race trailer seems to be borrowed once or twice a year. |
