| Went ahead and bought the 1000XP/EPS
What are some good windshield options. Would like to keep it cheap as I would likely only use it during cool weather
Also have an full size ranger 800XP/LE. What's a good cheap option for it?
Edit: not getting a cab. Used on that had a cab. Hated it. I enjoy open air ridin, but when it gets down to 20-30 I'd like something to cut the air a bit.
Maybe a half windshield?

![](/profile/get-photo.asp?memberid=397&type=profile&rnd=460) Osnabrock ND | Get the full cab, they are expensive but worth it if going to use it when it's cold. There might be done after market options. |

SE MN | Windshield only you will get a lot of dust hanging around in the "cab" |
|
|
|
| Make sure to get a glass one not a Plexiglas, the cabs are nothing to be proud of but a must in cold climate |

Saline County, Mo | Definitely get glass. You can't even think about cleaning plastic ones with out scratching them |

Central Iowa | I wouldn't get anything but the glass tip out windshield and I'd also look at the full cab |

EC Indiana | the cheap poly half windshield will cut the wind. (kinda pushes it up over your head) Does not cause a dust problem. Drawback as mentioned, they scratch easy. I had some kind of road film build up on mine when hauling it in the rain. It now has permanent water spots on it.

Newton Iowa | On my 800. Have a hard coat poly. Doesn't scratch as easy. The bottom 4 inches can be removed for summer,or all of it. Last year just took bottom out. Been through some trails, no scratches yet.
Tip out would be nice if you do some evening, night riding. |

Northwest Iowa | We bought a windshield for our Polaris . We feel they are worthless . If you like dust just get a windshield we even tried a half windshield and all it did was blow the dust up over the top and you couldn't see anything anyway |

![](/profile/get-photo.asp?memberid=935&type=profile&rnd=578) Greene County, Illinois | I just made one with plywood frame and plexiglass windshield. Also made a back panel with window. Foam between plywood and pipe frame on Polaris. Drilled holes in plywood and each panel held on with zip ties. Takes 5 minutes to put on or take off. Had plywood, so total cost was about $20 for plexiglass. Front windshield is 2 separate pieces, just in case one got scratched or broken. |

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I have a Ranger 900. I got the low 1/4 height poly windbreaker. I will not have a cab. If the weather is that bad I use the pickup truck.
I have had the windbreaker blow out while sitting in a strong wind from the rear. It just pops out and really doesn't incur any damage other than a bit of hassle to put it back in. I'm sticking with this windscreen and no cab plan. |
