| Dang, wish I had known about this sale. Been busy and hadn't looked at Midwestauction.com lately. I can remember as a kid down at the Iowa State fairgrounds where we showed our purebred Charlois cattle every year at the State Show and Sale, one of the cattle barns was being used as a warehouse for Massey Ferguson Ski Whiz snowmobiles. Most were in crates but several were not. They really were a pretty decent sled for those times. Fit and finish was head and shoulders above most other sleds of the era. Thanks for the trip down memory lane Pete!

Osakis, MN | That polar 450 looked like a sled I've seen before. I know of another one out there that is still running and in what appears to be much nicer condition.
Here's a little history of those Polars, They were made for a year it seems after Edgar Hetteen left the partnership of the company Polaris he worked for. He called this company Polar until a year later founding the company Arctic Cat. Made in 1962.

| The Trail-A-Sled (3rd photo) may have been a NOS sled.
I was interested in the Yamaha SM292F and Brut LC29. Neither went cheap enough for my blood. |

Mid Michigan | That Harley with the cutter is about the cleanest one of those I've ever seen. We have a ton of vintage sleds. A couple of Ski doo free airs, Ski doo Rv's, Ski Doo Blizzard, a Viking, a Raider twin track, a single cylinder Boatel Ski Bird, and a couple of Kawasaki Interceptors. Anybody interested in going to a big snowmobile auction there is a big one on the first saturday of every month down by Coldwater Michigan in the town of Bronson. They have hundreds of sleds and Atv, jet skis, etc every auction. There are droves of people there every auction. Probably 1000 people bidding and selling. It's kind of a fun place to spend a day milling around even if you don't buy. They have one coming up here in a week that should be a big one kicking off the snowmobile season. |
