2145 Versatile, same as 8670A. Shredding stalks this morning the display started flashing F104. Tractor kept driving fine until I stopped to check it out. Now tractor will not shift into gear. Just says d on the gear selector screen. Looked up fault code, says downshift switch open. Tried disconnecting switch and batteries, no luck.

Assuming the switch will need replacement. Just checking to see if anyone has had this happen and knows a work around so I can keep going today.

If you've been shredding I would look for loose wires underneath, especially right hand side with all the shift solenoids.

Thanks for the reply. I looked underneath and no wires appear to be out of place. Very little tall stubble in this field.

I think I had that problem years ago was digging mud out on a 8870 and broke some wires that go to one of the syanolyds

Check the microswitch on the inching pedal, the linkage on ours has fallen apart twice. Also had the return spring break on it once.

Not sure if it set codes though.

After getting home tonight I tracked down the service manual online. First procedure for code F104 is to check the resistance of the shifter circuit board between pins 3 and 5 on the harness. Should be less than 2500 ohms. Mine tested 5 million. Did the tests for the other gear positions to verify that I was testing it correctly and they passed. Going to need a new board. Thanks for the replies!
